“Zedd (aka Anton Zaslavski) is an uber-talented new artist/producer on the scene. Being born into a family of musicians, he began playing the piano at the age of four. Zedd then began playing the drums in a band, composing & producing numerous rock songs. In 2009, he began producing electronic club music, quickly to much acclaim. After only a few months, he attained participated in Beatport’s Armand Van Helden / Strictly Rhythm Remix Contest, which he went on to win. This opened up a number of new possibilities, and only shortly after, Zedd began receiving more EDM acclaim after winning another Beatport remix competition and having dance charting success with his singles “Autonomy”, “The Legend of Zelda” and “Anthem” (which entered the Beatport charts Top 20, 2nd place in Trackitdown’s charts).
Zedd followed up with a remix for Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites”, released on Deadmau5′s Mau5trap Recordings, which climbed up the charts to #4 on Beatport and #2 on Beatport’s Electro House charts. This was followed by a throng of major label remixes and huge artist collaborations. One of the reasons for Zedd’s rapid development is undoubtedly his unique and highly recognizable style of composition. It stands out as very detailed and carefully produced Electro House, very playful and the same time remarkably catchy.
Swedish House Mafia would soon formally introduce the world to Zedd via a remix they commissioned from him of their new smash single “Save The World”. Zedd’s mix is an electro house banger that has been making it into superstar DJ sets and gathering nods from some of the biggest acts in dance music. At just 21 years of age, Zedd is taking over dancefloors worldwide; with countless collaborations of other artists/writers/producers including JoJo (producing her forthcoming single, “Other Chick”), Sofi Toufa (Deadmau5′s new artist), Anjulie, Heather Bright, Lazonate, and many more. As of late 2011, Dim Mak and Zedd will be releasing another anticipated single “Stars Come Out”, explained as one of his most tedious and time consuming tracks yet: “It survived some drastic changes, quite a bit of vocalist-speed-dating and now I’m very excited to present the final version which I’m very happy with!” . With his remarkable attention to detail and collection of ‘instant classics’, Zedd is definitely an artist to look out for in the future…
