Alec Empire of Atari Teenage Riot, with semi-frequent updates from the rest of the crew & management, have an official Tumblr page setup, voicing all matters- from political to band related. In more recent context, Alec has taken on his stance on the 1999 Sony Advertisement where they impermissibly used an Atari Teenage Riot track in South East Asia:
“I felt used, exploited, ripped off…everything that a sensitive artist like myself would feel in that situation… Even though the thing got settled in court kind of, I never felt they paid what they owed.
So when the request for the Sony Vita ad landed on my lap, I put ‘Black Flags’ into it…it was all hectic and they okayed it.”
In the end, Atari Teenage Riot & Alec Empire place most of their financial gain into the #FreeAnons, Anonymous Solidarity Network; a support system dedicated to assisting those who are facing prosecution for alleged involvement in “Anonymous” activities, wherein came the “Black Flags” single.
