The final day of the Electric Zoo festival in New York has been cancelled. This includes Steve Aoki’s performance and the entire Dim Mak stage. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and families of the two concertgoers who lost their lives. Our thoughts remain with those still hospitalized. This is a weekend of celebration across America, and we urge our community to take a moment and reflect on the safety of both themselves and those around them.
ANNOUNCEMENT – Kenna’s ‘Land 2 Air Chronicles II: Imitation Is Suicide’ dropping on September 3, 2013
Land 2 Air Chronicles II is the second part of Kenna’s three EP series based on the Emerson essay Self-Reliance. On this second installment, Imitation is Suicide, Kenna is stating the clear influences in his work to help define a musical compass while giving credit where credit is due.
Kenna stated, “Music icons like David Byrne and Rick James inspired Imitation is Suicide. I think posing as an ‘original’ without acknowledging your influences is like killing yourself. The chapters and art of this EP speak to those influences all while hopefully dancing between sonics and genres.”
Imitation Is Suicide (chapter one of three) Produced by Chad Hugo and Kenna will be released on September 3, 2013. You can pre-order the EP on iTunes HERE.

Qulinez are having the time of their lives. Childhood pals Alexander Lager and Johannes Gustafsson were discovered by Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello, who picked up his fellow Swedes for his label Size Records. Now, Qulinez have linked up with another big name name in electronic music – Steve Aoki and his label, Dim Mak – for their single “Drop It,” and they’re serving up a relentlessly intense mix around their new track. Sounds from the Bloody Beetroots, Carnage and Borgore, and Marin Solveig fly by, but the focus remains on “Drop It” and its interplay with a little bit of Daft Punk.
“Their sound is hard and heavy, just how we like it!” Aoki tells Rolling Stone. “This mix hits just as strongly as their live sets. When I listen to it, I feel like I’m right there with them.”
