“With a massive buildup into a thumping electro bassline, this almost Melbourne-inspired sound will definitely have fans moving to the beat.” – EDMTunes
While it might be unbelievable that such a big sound comes out of such a small country, Denmark’s Rune RK has produced a serious hit in the form of “Trash Talk.” Rune is known for playing big-room with an underground mindset, and this is evident in the thumping electro bassline of this track, which is broken up by melodic interludes that add the perfect element of contrast.
“Making a name for himself around the globe w/ releases on the biggest labels in the genre, Joe is ready to make an impact on dance music’s big room landscape.” – Dancing Astronaut
Joe Ghost’s new track LIBG wastes no time in throwing you straight into that epic mainstage sound. If you close your eyes you can almost see the smoke machines and thousands of screaming fans. True to its name, this track will definitely get you in the mood to “Lose It Baby, Go!”
“Having been dubbed as DJ Snake‘s musical protégé, Sebastien Benett continues to provoke us all with his aggressive approach to dance music.” – The Music Ninja
This seriously powerful tune from rising French star Sebastien Benett evokes a feeling of being at a massive Eastern world rave, with a little GOA influence shining through at key moments. Sebastien is known for not holding back both in the studio and behind the decks, and the effect can be felt in your very bones with “Lutece.”
For this week’s #FreeFriday we’re giving you a seriously funky house track in the form of Panic City’s “Real Lies.” Grab it and get ready for everyone at your preparty to ask you where you discovered this guy.
[two_third]Keys N Krates‘ “Dum Dee Dum” is one of those tunes that instantly gets stuck in your head, and with the official video passing the 1 million views mark, it is also getting stuck on your screens. Directed by Slave Labour, the video is a hilarious mockumentary that explores the Mennonite culture. In the video, the director visits various Mennonite communities and introduces members to current technology unbeknownst to them, including iPods, boom boxes, and more, all the while blasting “Dum Dee Dum.”
Off of last year’s SOLOW EP, “Dum Dee Dum” is also taking festival stages by storm this spring, with support from Skrillex, Carnage, Diplo, RL Grime, Flosstradamus and more. This week the single hit #16 on the US Dance Singles Sales Chart (as ranked by SoundScan), making it the only trap record aside from “Turn Down For What” in the top 20. “Dum Dee Dum” is showing no signs of slowing down.[/two_third][one_third_last]

Vancouver’s Felix Cartal is back with his new Credits EP, out today on Dim Mak Records. This three track EP includes “Ready For Love” featuring Chloe Angelides, “Who Even Am I,” and “Let It Go” featuring Lily Elise, continuing his evolution toward emotive songwriting and vocal-based melodies while still remaining true to his electro house roots.
On the captivating opening track “Ready For Love,” Felix Cartal delivers an inspirational, uplifting tune featuring vocalist Chloe Angelides, layering euphoric strength and beauty over Felix’s characteristic big-room sound. Sandwiched between the two more radio friendly tunes is “Who Even Am I,” the only instrumental on the EP and the most straightforward club track. Closing out the EP, “Let It Go” with vocals from Lily Elise combines indie pop and electronic elements in a way that’s far from coerced or cliche, and stands out in the sea of electronic collaborations.
Credits follows up a myriad of other Felix Cartal releases on Dim Mak Records, including the Past Present Felix EP, which debuted at #18 on iTunes Dance Albums, and the “New Scene (feat. Ofelia)” remixes EP. Felix’s music has been evolving since day one, and he now regularly collaborates with a dynamic array of producers and vocalists. The result is a unique sound that can be heard on his 2012 album Different Faces, which was nominated in the Best Dance Recording category at the 2013 JUNO Awards. In the last year alone, Felix has released official remixes for Zedd, The Bloody Beetroots, and Tiësto.
Selfies have been linked to mental illness, narcissism and addiction–none of which is news to The Chainsmokers, a New York City–based DJ duo who are rising to success with their infuriatingly infectious single “#SELFIE.” The song is pure audio click bait, from the hashtag in the title to its focus on the neologism du jour: Building on a stubborn earworm of a synth break, the two producers trade the euphoric vocals that often accompany electronic-dance-music singles for a satirical spoken-word track of a girl trying to take the perfect photo during a night out in a club. “Can you guys help me pick a filter?” she drawls.

The Chainsmokers headed to Miami armed with Instagram and a No.1 single for some sunshine, sand, and… plenty of butts.
