#FreeFriday Episode No. 053: Will Brennan – RNR (DJ Burn One Screwmix)

213 236 Tim Gauthier

#FreeFriday

TGIF? No! TGIFF! “Thank god it’s f*cking Friday” with this week’s #FreeFriday giveaway! Southern hip hop giant DJ Burn One puts his signature stamp on Will Brennan‘s “RNR” and slows it down from 100 miles an hour to booty grindin’ speed limit!. Who knew driving speed limit could be so good?! The track has an authentic Texas chop/screw vibe with shades of an Atlanta trap influence.

“Slow motion for me, slow motion for me, move in slow motion for me”

♬ Out Now: Tritonal & 7 Skies – Reset

Longtime friends since their early production days, Tritonal and 7 Skies infuse their melodious and experimental signature sounds into ‘RESET’, a hard-hitting banger that has been supported by everyone from Nicky Romero, Gareth Emery, Cazzette, Hardwell, W&W, and Ferry Corsten. Following the motto of Tritonal‘s hometown of Austin, as well as their daily goal in the studio, the duo definitely try to “keep it weird” with ‘RESET’, co-produced with Italian artist 7 Skies. Quirky synths and infectious drops keep the track’s energy at full throttle the entire ride, and while you might be tempted to try and catch your breath before the frenzied buildup, you’re quickly pulled back in by a dub-infused, wobbling breakdown.

USA Today: 6 emerging artists to catch at Lollapalooza [Keys N Krates]

680 510 Tim Gauthier

While it’s all well and good to rattle off a list of accomplishments, sometimes it’s just easier to name-drop. Keys N Krates has toured and played alongside Bassnectar, Skrillex, Kid Cudi, Pretty Lights, Major Lazer, Girl Talk and Zeds Dead in recent years, and received support from notable electronic artists such as Diplo and TNGHT. There’s a smorgasbord of talent in this Toronto-based trio — Dave Matisse on keyboards, Adam Tune on drums and Jr. Flo on turntables — which has been blending electronic and trap music with rap beats since 2008. They played SXSW, Ultra and Wakarusa music festivals, and are getting ready to release their SoLow EP in September. (via USA Today)

A STATE OF CARNAGE (EDC 2013 Aftermovie)

500 500 Tim Gauthier

If there’s one DJ that’s really making a mark on both EDM music and culture right now, it’s Carnage. With DJ support from Tiësto, Avicii, A-Trak, Porter Robinson, and Paul Oakenfold, to name a few, his own “Carnage Presents: INCREDIBLE” radio show on Sirius XM’s Electric Area, and his explosive performance at EDC 2013, Carnage has become an EDM icon – a trance god. In this fourteen minute documentary-style video, Carnage grants us an all-access, VIP backstage pass to his life as he parties on a first-name basis with heavy hitters like Tiesto and Morgan Page, takes his “trill as f*ck” grandma with him to EDC, lays down the beats in front of thousands of people, and describes the exhausting yet surreal journey he’s been on as he continues to, in his own words “do this for the people.” DISCLAIMER: only watch this video if you don’t mind hearing “twerk, turn up, and trill” used in the same sentence. But we know you love it.

With the recent release of His collab “Michael Jordan” with Tony Junior, which has received DJ support from tastemakers such as Martin Solveig who dropped it in his set at Tomorrowland over the weekend, Carnage’s star is rising to the top at an unprecedented speed.
