Yolanda Be Cool is about to blow your summer into smithereens with the release of “Ladies and Mentalmen”, a 19 track album that shows you what it’s like to really get down be mental with bonafide rhythmic genius. From minute one, with the track “Change (ft Nola Darling)”, the bass gets to knockin’ like the police in the middle of the night, and the remaining tracks get increasingly sexier and bangin from there. Three of the tracks are EXCLUSIVE to Dim Mak Records, including “Sweat Naked”, “All That She Wants”(which features SYF & Fritz Helder from Azari & III providing the vocals on this pounding track), and “Cool Like” (featuring Fatlip)”. Head over to iTunes and get your lesson in cool from Yolanda Be Cool and Dim Mak Records.
It’s Friday and you know what that means – another bangin’ track to get the party started from yours truly at Dim Mak.
RNR 2.0 is Will Brennan‘s sexy summer follow up to his “RNR” single and, true to Will’s signature musical style, the song can’t be defined by just one genre. RNR 2.0 is infused with soothing acoustic melodies, the sensual voice of Jenny Reynolds, and a backdrop of trap beats provided by EthnikKds.
Combined with Will’s smooth rapping, this song is the perfect Friday night jam to blast in the car with friends on the way to wherever you’re about to GET WEIRD.
“Since I wear nail polish, which is not normal … people bother me about it,”says band member Malcolm Brickhouse, who hails from the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y. “At times it offends me, at times it doesn’t. So I just write songs about it.”
Jarad Dawkins, of Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy neighborhood, who has been playing with Brickhouse since the two were just 5 years old, says he’s writing a book about people “who are being bullied in school.” His characters find wealth and fame after forming a band, while those who judged them “have become homeless.”
“It’s based on a true story,” Dawkins explains in the video.
Despite the teasing at school, these two are quickly gaining the fame (though perhaps not the cash) envisioned in Dawkins’ book.
Dim Mak’s newest signee, Clinton VanSciver, has made his first major debut in the dance music scene with his Indie Anna Jones EP, released on Dim Mak Records just two days ago. The recent USC graduate has hit the Beatport charts by storm with his “Summer Serotonin” playlist which features the gritty synth and vocally enthused new single ‘Indie Anna Jones’ along with other stylistically similar tracks that he describes as “[all] the songs I’ve been enjoying (or creating) instead of applying for a f*cking do-nothing job this summer”. Get your hands on this fresh anthem here on Beatport and be prepared to sing your heart out to this lyrically driven dance tune!
The Partysquad has teamed up with The Death Set and Diplo for another monumental Beatport Chart topping collaboration titled ‘P.O.V. 2.0’, released on Dim Mak Records. This time they come at you with a feel-good summer carnival sound reminiscent of circus tents, flashing lights, festival games, and that oh-so-sweet cotton candy. Be sure to get your copy of this Electro House Top 10 track here on Beatport just in time for EDC Vegas!
Dim Mak allstar Clockwork has just provided us a stellar video to go along with his uplifting and hard-hitting anthem “Surge,” which features some sweet vocals from Wynter Gordon. This track was one of the huge anthems of 2013 and if you made it out to any major festivals over the last six months you probably heard it dropped and perhaps even did a little fist-pumping to one of the track’s bleepy drops. The video echoes the high-energy nature of the track and features everything from friends running through the forest to electrified zombies dancing on some sort of post-apocalyptic beach. Points for creativity on this one… (via THUMP)
In this final installment of our 3 part series, the Dim Mak crew takes a day off (from our oh so hard lives) to enjoy a second day on the yacht where we got a visit from Xtreme Fly Board. They were nice enough to let us steal one of their jet-skis as well as let us try to fly around the bay. After a nice day, we ended our long week at Ultra Music Festival. We followed Steve to UMF for his second weekend performance at the festival…
AutoErotique‘s breathtaking new single “Asphyxiation” undoubtedly lives up to it’s name. This pulsating electro track will have you gasping for air but wanting more as you fight back the urge to get up and dance.
No strangers to the production game, the widely inspired Toronto based duo have been behind the scenes producing various genres of music for years before officially joining the dance music community and singing to Dim Mak Records in early 2009. Every track AutoErotique puts out showcases the perfect blend of electro, techno, house, Dutch house, Dutch-colonial house, rave, rock, rave-rock, indie-rock, and even ska inspired elements.
Gladiator, AutoErotique’s first single released on Dim Mak Records in September 2009, received immediate attention from the likes of Steve Aoki, DJ AM, Klever, Larry Tee/Alexander Technique, The Faint, AC Slater, and Milano whom have all remixed the epic track, making AutoErotique a heavyweight name in the EDM scene. AutoErotique has since showed off their ambiguous musical talents with their own remixes for Benny Benassi, Felix Luker, Tiesto, Etienne de Crecy, Joachim Garraud, Sarah McLeod, Lykki Li, Shinichi Osawa, Chris Cornell & Timbaland, Diplo & Laidback Luke, Larry Tee, B. Rich, Disco Bisquits, Fischerspooner and Weezer. A recent collaboration with fellow Dim Mak artist Felix Cartal has given birth to the stellar summer single “The Alarm”, which is scheduled to be released June 6th on Dim Mak Records.
The sexy ass-filled video for “Asphyxiation” will premiere on May 28th and the track will also be available for purchase on iTunes and Beatport.
THIS JUST IN: Our boy Clinton VanSciver hit us with a sensational teaser for his upcoming EP “Indie Anna Jones” to be released on Dim Mak Records June 11 – just one week away! It’s obvious after listening to the track that VanSciver stays true to his trademark, self-dubbed “dirty pop” style for which he’s received wide acclaim from bloggers as well as prominent sites like Beatport. In describing the album, VanSciver states, “The Indie Anna Jones EP is an amalgamation of everything squeaky-clean and smart about retro pop music with a modern-day grit. It’s the music I’ve wanted to create since I was young.” We’ll cheer to that!
Probably one of the funniest things I saw all weekend… In the Season 2 premiere of Stevie TV we got to watch Stevie Ryan battle with a twerking addiction and boy was that enjoyable. Ass. If you’re not familiar with this babe and her show please get into it, NOW.
