In the hype of their upcoming breakout live performance in Los Angeles, Hollywood Reporter sat down with the Israeli producers to get a little preview at what’s to come.
Jidax, the Parisian DJ duo dubbed as “The French Phenomenon,” are the freshest talent to come out of the European Electronic Dance Music world in recent memory. Next month, Dim Mak releases Jidax’s newest track “Resistencia
Of “Resistencia,” a banging Progressive House track with a signature big-room electro feel, Aoki tweets, “I tested out Resistencia last night to 20,000 people in brazil. Its definitely finished and ready for a summer release.”
This Saturday a small crew from the office made the adventurous journey into the Valley to do “normal” people things. For a fairly new transplant to LA this means a tribute to the weird and fairly often boring nights in the Midwest. We started our night by meeting up at the train station to catch the Metro, which happened to be a first for most of us. Then off to the glamorous Universal City Walk for dinner and some good wholesome fun. This turned out to mean a few, very large beers and some bowling. It doesn’t take long to realize the Midwest boys have an advantage in the fine art of throwing heavy things long distances. The night wrapped up with a, shall we say stereotypical meal at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Thanks to the Dim Mak locals for showing us a great night and lets hope there are more of these outings to come!

DJ Fashen has been one of the top club DJs in the US for at least the last ten years, but this is his first release of original music. He’s an absolute genius on the turntables, an incredible performer, and his energy and knowledge translates perfectly in this three song EP.The Phoenix native (he came up with Z-Trip) had already been ripping for years on commercial radio and in nightclubs all over the US before being hand picked by DJ AM for Deckstar, which propelled him into the upper echelon alongside AM, Jazzy Jeff and Steve Aoki. This landed him gigs playing for Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, 50-Cent, and the Kardashians, and as a Skam Artist DJ he continues to tour the world, somehow also finding time to hold down Dim Mak Sundays at Drai’s Hollywood with Thee Mike B.
If you ever need a heightened sense of our dystopian present, attend an Atari Teenage Riot show. Certainly the long-running German trio — now consisting of Alec Empire, Nic Endo and Rowdy Superstar — has had progress in its sights for a long time. The group began in Berlin in 1992 as a proactive response against neo-Nazism in Germany and has been fighting the good fight through techno-juiced hardcore (and strobe lights!) off and on for two decades. (The band took a decade-long hiatus in 2001 after the death of founding member Carl Crack before returning last year.) But no length of fandom or YouTube-by-proxies is quite like being in Atari Teenage Riot‘s present presence: through hyperreal energy and palpable political resolve, the group acts as cheerleaders for resistance, and the constant indictments of skewed global politics are actually transformative. We’re living in a time of tumult, but ATR’s imagining a better future, if we want it. The crux of their music, battering, insistent, and of the rabble, is just a reminder that along the path there, chaos is tantamount. And fun.

With the immersion of Dim Mak’s finest at Insomniac’s Beyond Wonderland, there were too many memorable portions of the night; from Autoerotique’s debut of several unreleased tracks, to Felix Cartal getting 10,000 fans to sing along to “Don’t Turn On The Lights”, we could only close things out with a bang — literally. Steve Aoki brought out the friend and collaborative drummer, Travis Barker to perform their latest single “Cudi The Kid” off Wonderland.
Some of you might not know this but Steve started out in the Hardcore punk scene. Actually the first ever dim mak release was a hardcore ep. After releasing A hardcore single with Bob Rifo as Rifoki his Album Wonderland was a logical step to again introduce part of his roots Amsterdam’s Sick Boy also came from a background of loud guitars so when the two decided to collaborate on “The Kids will have their say” it was inevitable that it would be a loud in your face track with a punk influenced attitude.
What would be cooler then having people play on it that influenced Generations of kids to pick up a guitar or drumsticks? Here’s a Lil info on “Big” John and Erik, the guitarplayer and drummer on the track.

Japanese lager boffins at Kirin have come up with an ingenious innovation to keep a pint cold – an artificial head of insulating foam called Ichiban Shibori Frozen Draft that locks in the coldness and then disappears.
