“HEY” – Hey is one of Dzeko & Torres first ventures in to the heavier-set realms of EDM. Although keeping aspects of their signature progressive melodies on the breakdowns, the track pulls a full 180 and drops into a hard hitting play of rising leads and grinding basslines. Met with an iconic ‘Hey’ chant, the track never stops building and is guaranteed to keep the crowd chanting along with their hands in the air the whole way through.

“BUPPY” – Still very much a big room track, “Buppy” explores a new sound stylistically for Dzeko&Torres. Its bouncy synth line drop and builders keep the track constantly grooving, designed for waking up the dance floor. On a proper sound system, the rhythmic tribal drums and punchy kick hit you high in your chest and the techy breakdown serves up the perfect opportunity for other EDM producers and DJ’s to get creative with their own edits.

“CHECK THIS OUT” – Check This Out is modern electro take on the old school rave sound. Sampling the famous vocal sample, the track builds with stuttered leads into a breakdown that pays homage to the fantastic melodies of Hardstyle and Happy Hardcore. Continuing to build, the track then drops back into the stuttered grunge, this time topped with a splash of an old school rave horn.

£1 Fish Man – One Pound Fish (O-Fish-Al Video)

725 383 Tim Gauthier

Muhammad Shahid Nazir, now known as £1 Fish Man, moved to London’s East End having left his native Pakistan and his wife and four children to discover a better life for them all. Working on a market stall selling fish, Nazir needed a trader’s call to grab passing trade. His song became the stuff of legend and a viral sensation: “Have-a, have-a look, one pound fish. Very, very good, very, very cheap, one pound fish.”

After a video of him was uploaded to YouTube, Nazir saw himself accelerated into the spotlight: he auditioned on the X-Factor, saw his ‘£1 Fish Song’ covered separately bysuperstar producer Timbaland and singer Alesha Dixon and was profiled by the Evening Standard who declared: “Watch out Psy, you’ve got a rival” and The Sun who stated: “It might just be the Christmas No. 1.”

The Start of Something Great — Presenting the latest addition to the Dim Mak 2013 roster: Keys N Krates

820 448 Tim Gauthier

Unrehearsed with Keys N Krates — A personal introduction to Dim Mak’s latest signing, and to-be breakthrough artist of 2013, with a video premiere of “Treat Me Right” via HypeBeast.

Having witnessed the recent unfolding of the “All Originals Represent” campaign, Hypebeast aligns with dance party curators Keys N Krates for a piece we aptly dubbed Unrehearsed. Comprised of Adam Tune on drums, David Matisse on keys and Jr. Flo on the ones-and-twos, the Toronto-based tripartite formed in 2008 out of a desire to do something different through fusing electronic remixing and live dance parties. In creating an experience unlike so many, the electro-collective started by locking themselves in a rehearsal room for six months to create and finesse their unique sound and identity. Having now traveled the world rocking with all ethnicities, the struggle returns in the form of maintaining that originality for their loyal fans and unfamiliar listeners. Forever in search of a certain “oneness” with the crowd, a Keys N Krates’ party is something that can only be truly experienced in person. In the meantime however, enjoy this video treatment as Filmmakers Sid Singh and Nithya Thayaal follow the three musicians as they prepare for and perform at a live showing.
