Recap: Official Phat Brahms Release Party

320 283 Tim Gauthier

Upon arriving to DMS for the Official Phat Brahms Release Party, there was a line around the block just as I thought there would be. Leading up to the night there was a ton of buzz on social media and blogs in regard to Tomorrowland’s Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The Tomorrowland festival that takes place in their native country Belgium has resulted in a huge buzz around their high-energy sets.

The duo seemed to bring a piece of their native homeland to DMS. The two transformed the club atmosphere, creating an energy that would only occur at larger festivals such as EDC or Tomorrowland. One of my favorite aspects of DJ sets is the interaction between the crowd and DJ, and this particular Tuesday night was one of the more intense sets I’ve been able to witness in person.

Within the hour-long set, they played their new track Madness feat Lil Jon & Coone, which generated a surge of intensity from the crowd. The set also included a fair amount of remixed pop songs from Alvin Risk and others allowing the crowd to sing along while dancing the night away. The duo closed their set with the night’s honorary track, Phat Brahms, a collaboration between Steve Aoki, Angger Dimas, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike bringing the crowd’s energy level to an extraordinary high. To say the least I left DMS that night feeling great about our recent release, Phat Brahms. I would defiantly pick this track up if you want your next party to get out of control. 😉

Dim Mak is proud to release the next installment off Proxy’s line of “MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES”, with this single premiere; “Shut Up”.

“Shut Up!” is packed with a brutal hip-hop vocal decrying mainstream pop laid out over the bluntest of beats, armed with weapons-grade bass and PROXY’s trademark, dread-inspiring atmospherics. The track will be accompanied with remixes from Dim Mak label mates GTRONIC and VCO. Belgian titan GTRONIC lends his heavy bass trash sound for a grinding rendition of “Shut Up!” crammed with low-end intensity. Los Angeles-based duo VCO rework “Shut Up!” into a techno-house frenzy. Closing out the release, rising Canadian star John Roman uncovers the pitch-black soul of “Shut Up!” and lets it unfold over six minutes of malevolent techno, while Belgian house duo Sound of Stereo unleash an equally dark and fully loaded house remake.

“An aggressively belligerent and totally dope single off the new album, dripping with raw, spirited hip-hop swagger” – VIBE

The German electro-house DJ/producer TAI has been playing the release on stages across the world, getting the folks from down under, up and dancing. Belgian producer Modek is on remix duty for “Steroid.”

Dzeko & Torres – Buppy (Original Mix + Bonus) [Free Download]

1000 1000 Tim Gauthier

Fresh off their remix of Trey Songz “Heart Attack,” Dzeko and Torres return with their latest progressive smash, “Buppy,” a hard-hitting percussion driven offering perfectly contoured for the dance floor. Layered with grinding synthwork and an energetic, almost tribal build “Buppy” is infectious and exciting. Their “It’s Finally Gangham Time” edit adds to the atmosphere with gorgeous vocal cuts and the now iconic Gangham Style sample that surprisingly works here despite it’s internet meme stigma.

Both the original mix and the Gangham Style edit are up for free on the duo’s SoundCloud – and who doesn’t like free?

500 500 Tim Gauthier

[lightbox url=”http://www.dimmak.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/bb-top.jpg” title=”Image title”][/lightbox]

Yesterday, The Bloody Beetroots announced that the next single, Chronicles of Fallen Love feat. Greta Svabo Bech will be released through Ultra/Dim Mak on October 23. However this time around you guys won”t be able to hear an official sneak peak any time soon, instead Sir Bob Cornelius and Greta are asking fans to play the song first. Sir Bob Cornelius released the official sheet music and is requesting fans to post their version on YouTube, using the full title and hash tag #COAFL.

Sir Bob Cornelius explains his reasoning behind his approach,  “I wanted to show a whole different dimension to my music, I wanted to visibly reflect on the music that has influenced me and bring something new to it. More importantly, I wanted the fans to be a part of the music in a brand new way.”

This is a great way to bring your own twist to this stunning song and hear the track first through your own interpretation.

More details can be found on The Bloody Beetroots site.

“Chronicles Of A Fallen Love is ready to be heard. Listen from the beginning & play it to the end.” – Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo
