JDEVIL, the nefarious DJ alter ego of legendary KORN frontman Jonathan Davis, has joined forces with Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie on their co-headlining “Twins of Evil” U.S. tour launching September 28. JDEVIL will perform DJ sets packed with his brand of chaotic electro-metal. This news comes on the heels of JDEVIL’s recent signing with cutting-edge label Dim Mak for the release of his debut EP (details TBA).
“I like to think of JDEVIL as the ‘anti-christ’ of EDM,” says Davis. ”To play alongside Zombie and Manson is going to be a f**king sinister night all around, and an unbelievable theatrical experience. I can’t wait.”
On August 7, prior to the kick off of the “Twins of Evil” tour, Mondo Sex Head, an album featuring new and unique remixes of Rob Zombie classics by some of today’s top producers/DJs, will be released (Universal Music Enterprises/UMe) featuring JDEVIL’s remix of White Zombie’s “Thunder Kiss ‘65” (J-Devil Number of the Beast Remix).
Davis is currently on tour under his J Devil moniker, playing own headlining dates as well as five stops with the touring Identity Festival. J Devil will also be the support act for the Marilyn Manson-Rob Zombie Twins of Evil tour beginning Sept. 29. Meanwhile, Davis has prepared a J Devil EP for release (date pending) on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, as well as another EP by Killbot, a “supergroup” with (Nick) Sluggo and Tyler Blue.
“I started doing (electronic music) for fun. I didn’t now what was gonna happen with it,” Davis tells Billboard.com. “Making electronic music and learning to produce and learning my new instrument — laptop, I call it — has been an amazing thing. I’m learning and I’m having fun playing my own tunes. I’ve really had to re-train myself. It’s totally different than writing rock songs.” And while he acknowledges that “because I’m Jonathan from Korn, it’s a celebrity thing” when he gets behind the turntables, he’s enjoying great acceptance from his full-time peers in the EDM world — including Skrillex, Datsik, Downlink and others he invited to be part of Korn’s 2011 album, “The Path of Totality.”

While a late evening shower may have dampened the ground at the launch of Boom, Belgium’s Tomorrowland Festival, the magic of the day wasn’t hindered by it in the very least. If anything, the 60,000 fans in attendance Friday probably welcomed the cool down.
Banging sets by Joachim Garraud & Clockwork, coupled with the ecstatic raging of a few thousand fans, turned Steve Aoki’s tented Dim Mak stage into a sauna. Of course, when rapper Lil Jon walked out and “Welcomed all the ladies and gentlemen” to Tomorrowland, before launching into “Turbulence,” mayhem ensued. And speaking of raging – notable in Aoki’s set – festival goers were treated to a brand spanking new bomber of a collab with Knife Party. Fittingly, when we left Dim Mak for the day, Indonesian rising star Angger Dimas (who revealed to MTV News that a brand new Boys Will Be Boys track with Tiësto is coming soon) had just launched into “Internet Friends.”

DOESN’T. GET. MUCH. BETTER.
Felix Cartal’s new video “Higher” featuring New Ivory is a high tempo examination of the dangers of internalized rage. Sometimes, in this hectic modern world, our anger manifests in unhealthy ways. If you’re stressed out, consider physical activity like skateboarding or guitar. Try not to burn your house down.
