LIBRETTO is ON TOUR now with LYRICS BORN and while he's been away he's getting some sick press -
URB MAGAZINE calling him top 100 artists to check out.

"People were so busy following MF Doom's gastronomic exploits and requesting Kanye West's transcript last year that they completely missed Libretto. The razor-sharp Portland rapper quietly dropped his debut full-length in October on uber-hip indie rock label Dim Mak, of all places. Even touring with Talib Kweli and landing "Volumes" in a Tony Hawk game weren't enough to break him. That's a shame, since here Libretto proves he's strong but not smug, conscious but not cheesy, smooth but not soft. On par with Diverse and Gift of Gab, he navigates whirring, spooky production to deliver marked verses-- "Scarred knuckles from previous scuffles/ Diggin' through rubble/ Searching for signs of my soldiers/ Who were shook in the shuffle/ In life we murder/ Some hustle/ Others struggle/ Many drown in plasma puddles with no rebuttal." A release date has been confirmed for M.I.A.'s debut album "Arular," which will be released March 22 in the U.S. Additionally, details have emerged on M.I.A.'s relationship with the Universal Music Group's Interscope Records, which was first reported here earlier this week.
"Arular" will be released March 22 on New York-based XL Recordings, but will be distributed via Fontana, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Video & Distribution. Sources say that Interscope will still be involved in the record, but on a licensing basis. M.I.A. will remain signed to XL.
"Arular" was first slated to be released Feb. 22 on XL Recordings, but the label pulled the album less than a week before street date. XL, which is part of Beggars Group, said at the time the release was delayed due to a failure to clear unspecified samples.
"Arular" was originally slated to be distributed in the U.S. by the Warner Music Group's Alternative Distribution Alliance, which typically handles Beggars’ releases. Future M.I.A. releases will be more directly associated with Interscope.
The album's U.K. release remains April 25. That version will contain an extra track, "URAQT," which employs a Quincy Jones sample that was not cleared in time for inclusion on the U.S. edition.

Science and art meld for a lively discussion about the interaction of the two disciplines and the quest to define meaning and sense.

Live - Ben Lee: Catch My Disease And Flowers On Conan O'Brien
Ben Lee's new album Awake is the New Sleep came out last Tuesday on New West Records. In celebration, Ben did two shows - one at NYC's TONIC and one at LA's Viper Room.
The LA show was reviewed on this web site with glorious adulation. I attended the NY gig, which was nothing less than a love in. From the flowers that covered every inch of the stage to the beautiful lyrics and melodies that came one after the other from songs that make up this latest record. These songs are some of the most positive, hopeful and realistic songs I have ever heard. But... Ben is that way and always has been as long as I've known him. That's why he was in his usual giving spirits when he asked me to come on Conan O'Brien and sing back up vocals for him with seven of his other "friends"�.

Ben passed out lyric sheets to all of his "friends", which included upcoming touring mate Har Mar Superstar and Dim Mak's Steve Aoki, to name a couple. Rehearsing backstage and clapping along with everyone took me back to a different time. One with a lot more freedom and less hesitation to simply be and be in the moment. I think Ben is aware of this and always makes people feel at ease.
We went on set and did a run through twice and we were all very energized. We took suggestions and tips from the PR team and made sure we would all smile and as Ben said, "have a good time".
At 6:20 the producer came to our dressing room and in true Rocky Balboa pre fight style said "It's time." We were led down the famous NBC corridor and on set. The stage was now being pushed forward making it a lot closer to the studio audience. We were then given the ok to take our places on stage and walked out to a round of applause from the studio audience. Soon, Max Weinberg and the house band played us back from the commercial and Conan introduced us. The ride began and we were off.
Much love and thanks to Ben Lee for letting me be a part of his magic. Pick up this record and you too will share the magic. Ben's tour with Har Mar begins 3/21 in Denver, CO, and runs thru May. Go see him.
