cover Die Monitr Batss
"Spread Your Legs Release the Batss" 7"

1. Spread your legs, Release the bats
2. Hand Model Death
3. Night hares
4. Almost midnight

From Olympia, WA and Portland OR and the fusion of two seminal post-punk independent bands The Gossip and Sleet Mute Night Mute come avant punk group Die Monitr Batss. Their first recordings was a split 7" with Portland OR's Chromatics on GSL late 2002. This is their debut EP with four songs that have strong reference to late 1970's No Wave from New York ala Lydia Lunch, China Burg, and James Chance era. Their cacophony is their trademark and their trademark is fucking brilliant. And"Spread Your Legs Release The Bats" is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Vocals are split up and sung between Nathan and Jenn. They do better harmonies off each other than most R&B vocalists. Musically Die Monitr Batss are angular in their sound as Erase Errata or XBXRX but are extremely freeform with their saxophone, not as elegant as Coltrane but as fucked and raw like the aforementioned early James Chance.

On the Record:
Nate: Sax
Chris: Drums
Nathan/Brace: Guitar/Vocals
Jenn: Vocals
