Le Tigre Blanc is an adventurous pop album that deforms and combines several epochs of rap, R&B, jazz, and rock music, from James Brown-esque grunts and screams, to 90’s New Jack Swing, to modern trap, and even gospel hymns; it is a meta-work of the Internet era, a coming-of-age tale for the posthuman.

Proxy’s ‘Music From The Eastblock Jungles’ & North American Tour

414 414 Tim Gauthier

Russian producer PROXY makes his long-awaited return with the release of his debut album MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART 1, out November 6 via Dim Mak Records. A shocking display of hardcore sonic violence, MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART 1 is the first installment of a two-part series from the world-renowned artist, with the second chapter scheduled for release in early 2013.

Beloved by top DJs and stadium crowds the world over, PROXY has created a work that harnesses the spirit of pure rave culture, with over 20 combined tracks that span and elevate countless genres—notably inflected by classic bass and drum ‘n’ bass culture—without regard for trends or ephemeral influences. Released in two parts, the MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES series showcases the prolific underground rave-czar‘s wide-spanning body of work.

MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART 1 opens the audio siege with flag-bearing marches (“Raja Ganja”), imperial air-raid bangers (“Raw”) and unhinged breakbeat madness (“Junk”). MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART 1 is the product of an artist who forged a sound in complete isolation, with visa problems leading him to entrench himself in the remoteness of his native Russia, continuing in the U.K. rave tradition of his Essex-spawned idols, The Prodigy. Years in the making, the album features a massive stockpile of new material, as well as PROXY classics both renowned (“Raven”) and unreleased (“Abyss”).

Prior to the release of MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART 1, Dim Mak will unleash album track “Shut Up!”. Out October 16, “Shut Up!” is packed with a brutal hip-hop vocal decrying mainstream pop laid out over the bluntest of beats, armed with weapons-grade bass and PROXY’s trademark, dread-inspiring atmospherics. The track is accompanied with remixes from Dim Mak label mates GTRONIC and VCO. Belgian titan GTRONIC lends his heavy bass trash sound for a grinding rendition of “Shut Up!” crammed with low-end intensity. Los Angeles-based duo VCO rework “Shut Up!” into a techno-house frenzy. Closing out the release, rising Canadian star John Roman uncovers the pitch-black soul of “Shut Up!” and lets it unfold over six minutes of malevolent techno, while Belgian house duo Sound of Stereo unleash an equally dark and fully loaded house remake. Check out audio snippets of “Shut Up!” and all the remixes here:

In support of MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART 1, PROXY has confirmed a North American tour, taking him across major venues from New York’s Terminal 5 to the legendary Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

Steve Aoki Recruits will.i.am, Rivers Cuomo, Travis Barker for Album

By STEVE BALTIN
SEPTEMBER 12, 2011 2:25 PM ET

For his new album Wonderland (out around Christmas), Steve Aoki enlisted the help of a few of his close friends – including will.i.am, Travis Barker, LMFAO and Rivers Cuomo, who came out to perform their new song “Earthquakey People” at Aoki’s IDentity Festival show at the Hollywood Palladium last Sunday.

“Rivers is a friend and I wrote the record specifically for him in mind,” Aoki says of the collaboration, which will be released as a single in October.

Aoki has worked with several of the artists previously, including will.i.am and Barker. The will.i.am track, “Danger,” is a followup of sorts to their previous collaboration, “I’m In The House.” “He’s like the king of pop as far as producing, he’s amazing,” says Aoki. “For example, ‘I’m In The House’ was just a straight dance record and he turned it into a pop song by creating repetition, harmony and great vocals. For this one I gave him a pretty harder edged record, but he made it friendlier for the radio. I love working with Will.”

Like most of his DJ peers, Aoki drops singles regularly and is able to tour for months at a time on his club hits, but releasing this album was important to him. “I want an album out, and the way I’m pushing this album is it’s almost like a singles compilation of my records that I’ve just written,” he says.
