15 Years In One Night- Dim Mak Invites you to celebrate our 15th Anniversary

Tim Gauthier

Est. 1996, Los Angeles, CA – Dim Mak surfaced as an independent record label, blossomed from a studio of record pressings to an international distributor of music and media, events production company, and fashion line; all encompassing Steve Aoki’s idea of a ‘lifestyle of sound.’ Since its inception, Dim Mak has served as an advantageous forefront to an array of genres, breaking global icons such as Bloc Party, MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots and many more. After 15 years, Dim Mak has pulled its roots and shown them to the world, with four weekly events in California, including branded stages at festivals around the world, turning its foundation into a movement of millions.

To celebrate this milestone, we are calling out to the streets of Los Angeles to reintroduce Dim Mak in it’s biggest form yet. This event will take place at Dim Mak studios, live with over 7 acts including- Steve Aoki, Felix Cartal, Autoerotique, Villains, Alvin Risk, and many more!

Autoerotique Interview on Much Music for New Music Live!

Tim Gauthier

The Autoerotique duo visited Canada’s Much Music for New Music Live yesterday (June 1) for an exclusive interview. They discussed “cakesplosions,” the air cannons used in their viral hit video “Turn Up the Volume,” and how Toronto’s music scene has influenced their music.

The directors of the music video, who were in the crowd, were quoted by the host as saying “we wanted to represent the feeling you get listening to their music.” When asked to define their music, Keith, speaking on behalf of the group, stated, “There is no way to define us, I have no answer,” but when pressed for a one phrase definition, he replied, “sexual energy.” In response, the women in the crowd exploded much like the cake’s in their video.

Check out the interview below. (click screen shot to link to newmusiclive.ca)

AUTOEROTIQUE stores electro, techno, house, Dutch house, Dutch-colonial house, rave, rock, rave- rock, indie-rock and even ska on speed dial and calls them up frequently. Their effortlessly protean, shape-shifting sound can careen wildly from project to project, so it’s not unexpected to hear them transform from Dutch house to, say, Norwegian black metal on the same record – thus, earning them the lazily au courant nick name “Autobots” (currently TM’d by Hasbro so don’t pass it on!).
