Combining BOT and TAI, two producers from starkly different backgrounds and genres, could be risky. Instead, the result of this sort of collaboration evolves beautifully with the release of “NUTHIN BUT FIRE EP”, four tracks of teamwork genius. Totally unique and hard to categorize, which is a good thing when the quality is this high, “NUTHIN BUT FIRE EP” stands heads above the rest with its blend of jungle/90s breakbeat/wylin’ sounds. In the presence of two producers who truly understand what it means to make groundbreaking music, “NUTHIN BUT FIRE EP” blazes through the speakers and provides a sound that is unforgettable.
Bot is of the future. Half man, half-machine; fully Italian. Exiled in West London, locked in the studio since departing legendary duo Crookers, Bot (his creators named him Andrea Fratangelo) has disassembled any expectations and rebuilt his sound for 2018. Futuristic techno and unorthodox club rhythms are welded with hip hop influences, and a nod to the sounds and sprit of classic house. What we have here folks, is the new tomorrow.
2012 hit a sad note for Crookers fans when the duo announced that Bot would be going his separate way while Phra carried the Crookers name as a solo venture, and we’ve been waiting ever since to hear something from Bot‘s solo studio sessions. And it looks like the wait is finally over; on April 9th, devoted fans will finally get a sampling of what sort of saucy sounds Bot can make on his own as he releases “Vamos / Go Down” on Dim Mak Records.
This is huge, y’all! Once you’ve heard this track, you’ll be totally salivating for more of what this Italian mega-machine can do. The sounds of “Vamos / Go Down” are completely unlike anything we’ve heard before; it’s like the dance gods took extra special care in forming a talent as refined, energetic, and absolutely unique as Bot’s. The teaser video below is reminiscent of the Saved By the Bell opening credits, but with thunderous beats and super charged layers blazing into your ears over psychedelic visuals. With a video like this, and a breathtaking producer like Bot, this release is going to be one for the history books.
