150 150 Tim Gauthier

#FreeFriday

Will Brennan releases his first in-house collaboration with fellow Dim Mak artists Keys N Krates, Madeon – Icarus (Keys N Krates feat. Will Brennan Remix). As Brennan states, the conception of this track stemmed from “the kind of music (he) wants to wake up to.” The song serves as an autobiography, as Brennan shares his “dreams of being rap stars captured off lunch tables at school”. The grand and driving production provided by Keys N Krates provides a perfect backdrop for Brennan’s inspirational rhymes.

Keep an eye and ear out for the next special release, followed by many more giveaways.

150 150 Tim Gauthier

Life + Times; Jay-Z’s notable ‘lifestyle’ and music blog has continued to infiltrate the artists of Dim Mak, with it’s second chapter introducing Datsik, and the world as he see’s it.

With an air of new wave DJ skills while maintaining traditional DJ technique on the turntables, Datsik spins everything from modern dance music to hitting late ’80s hip-hop circa N.W.A. with a bang of dubstep bass drops.”

Jay-Z’s Life + Times Interviewed Steve Aoki

Tim Gauthier

Now that the dust of Austin, TX has settled, the editorials recapping the month-long SxSW event have started to appear. Jay-Z’s “Life + Times” had managed to get ahold of Steve during his SxSW performance, to touch a little more on the January-release of “Wonderland”

It’s a Friday night in Austin, Texas and the air is abuzz with people from every corner of the globe looking to get a bite of SXSW’s musical offerings. Steve Aoki, one of electronic dance music’s biggest DJs, producer and founder of Dim Mak Records, closes out the mtvU Woodie Awards with a high intensity set and unexpected drop-in from Lil’ Jon to perform “Turbulence.” After the performance, Aoki, clad in graffiti jeans and a loose Dim Mak tank, looks more like he just walked off a plane from Los Angeles instead of a humid, hot Texas stage after an energetic DJ set. Here, Aoki sits with Life + Times to talk about everything from the future of dance music to his fashion collection.
