Former Cinespace resident and close friend, Them Jeans has released a brand new video to accompany his single “Vowel Play.” Take a lap around L.A. with the producer as he takes a food tour at some of the finest eateries in the city, hangs with friends, and on the decks.
Dim Mak Records artists are at it once again! Just in time for your weekend chaos, TrackItDowns O4TW for the weekend of March 21st has been released with 50 tunes guaranteed to make your life feel like some super cool ninja/dance party movie. On the list, you’ll find Dim Mak’s very own DIRTYPHONICS with the track “Los Angeles” (feat. Modestep), and the new JIDAX track “Phenomena”.
The Dirtyphonics track featured on this fresh-out-the-oven bundle is off the debut of “Irreverence”, which was released Tuesday; this album is full of surprises that will leave you feeling as though you’ve been transported into an alternate universe where Mozart found his love of bass. “Los Angeles” is homage to a city infamous for a nightlife that makes all other cities look like the set of Golden Girls. An infectious beat paired with haunting vocals, Dirtyphonics “Los Angeles” is one to play with the windows down. In fact, if you’re going to bump the “Irreverence” album (and I know you will), it’d be safe to just go ahead and have your car windows removed and send out a memo to the neighbors, because things are getting louder and dirtier than ever before.
Also on the TrackItDown’s O4TW is JIDAX’s “Phenomena”, off of the EP released Tuesday under the same name. “Phenomena” starts off slow and steady and builds into a rambunctious track, reminiscent of the early days house music. I dare you to listen to this jam without doing that little shoulder twitch/head bob dance thing we all do when we listen to solid anthems. You know the one. “Phenomena” serves as a reminder that the Parisian duo have staying power in the world of dance.
Congrats to these Dim Mak Records mainstays on making the TrackItDown list this weekend! High fives all around.
Earlier this month Dim Mak went head to head against Friends of Friends, The Jeffrees, and Smog at Exchange L.A. for Red Bull Culture Clash. Each team battled against one another in four rounds including “Introduce Your Crew”, “What Your Crew Can Do I Can Do Better”, “Let Us Entertain You”, and “Leave it All on The Table”. Here’s our personal view from the night featuring Klever, Clockwork, Fashen, and our special guest DMX.
The Dim Mak family hosts a surprise bowling session for Steve Aoki’s birthday in LA on Monday 26th, 2012. Team Aoki ended up winning by 1 point, but it was a close one! Special thanks to the Shatto bowling alley in Korea Town.
Welcome to The Aoki Files. This is a new web series Steve Aoki is doing focusing on all the new Dim Mak artists and their releases. Every week he will interview different artists that have released a new record on Dim Mak Records.
The new Yung Skeeter drop “Stand Again” with Gaby Duran on vocals stands as a solid work of big room synths, House-esque sonics and a constant thrust of Dutch drumming. Skeeter’s electronic textures establish a pop-esque groove by pairing up with the female range of Duran.
Long time friend of the Dim Mak family, Kid Cudi is back with his first single from his upcoming album Indicud, which is anticipated for release in early 2013.
The video for Just What I Am featuring fellow Cleveland native King Chip, takes us on a top-down joy ride through DTLA to a laid back warehouse party. The raw flicker show style visuals captivate you and bring you along for this slow-mo, cosmic party experience full of red cups, hot babes and of course it wouldn’t be an LA party without Steve Aoki in the DJ booth.
