Felix Cartal – Don’t Turn On The Lights feat. Polina, Official Video Debut!

Tim Gauthier

“Don’t Turn On The Lights” is a club-thumping track that features vocals from Polina, a vocalist who’s collaborated with both Steve Aoki and Kaskade. “‘Don’t Turn On The Lights’ is a chance for me to try some more memorable melodies,” says CARTAL. “I really wanted to create something that people could hum along to, something that they would recognize instantly, but still with powerful, hard-hitting production behind it. Polina’s vocals really helped bring this song together to make it one of the catchiest songs I feel that I’ve ever produced.”

Filmed in his hometown of Vancouver, CARTAL teamed with director David McDonald for a three-scene concept, all where the ‘lights come on’ and subjects avoid ruin by escaping into darkness.

Video Premiere: New Ivory – A Knight (Acoustic Version) “London Riots”

Tim Gauthier

As many stood watch, the Sony DADC plant in Einfield, London was torched in the London riots, destroying all counts of inventory for surrounding artists and labels. Due to the severity of this disaster, many faced financial difficulties in having replacement stock manufactured. In support of the UK music scene, New Ivory, amongst others, have formed a charitable venture “Record Label Love” to help restore the PIAS-distributed independent record labels who were affected by the disaster. To help raise awareness, they have released a new video and acoustic version to their single “A Knight”, viewed above.

New Ivory — from remote parts unknown to the soul, from past to present sounds of distorted countenance-reflected from thoughts and emotions.

Hailing from London, New Ivory consists of a three-peice band made up of Mickey (vocals , lead guitar), Alessandro (bass) and Andy (drums). Upon forming in 2008, the group played several gigs across Europe, releasing their first EP in 2010. Shortly thereafter, with the critical success of their EP, Dim Mak formally signed the band to the label. As of late, they’ve hit the studio to record their complete first album, due out by late-2011. Get a taste of their next single, “Something You Should Know” with their latest video below…

Robert Raimon Roy’s New Music Video “Little Egypt Wavy”

Tim Gauthier

‘Little Egypt Wavy’ finds Robert Raimon Roy constructing a hybrid environment, where many ideas (e.g., Electra and Oedipal complexes, antiquity, Internet slang) around a single topic —’love’ as the triumph of hope over self-knowledge—coexist in conflict. This collagist theatre allows for a more nuanced view of courtship, one that is uncertain and complex. To quote Oscar Wilde on the subject, “We locate inside another a perfection that eludes us within ourselves, and through union with the beloved, hope somehow to maintain a precarious faith in the species.”

This new syncopation of tonal to visual euphoria was constructed by director Peter J Brant, based out of Los Angeles, CA. You can find many of his previous videos and projects by visiting his website below;

New Ivory – “A Knight” (Official Video)

Tim Gauthier

Check out the debut video “A Knight” from Dim Mak’s own New Ivory. Formerly known as “Leggins,” this London based “new wave, psychedelic, pop” act is a breathe of fresh air though their sound is reminiscent of the pioneers of a Rock and Roll genre that is currently battling Hip Hop, Electro, and Country for space on the charts. Though still very new on the scene, New Ivory might be the band to change that.
