DIM MAK x AOKI x FAVILA SHRINE PHOTOS

710 300 Tim Gauthier

We know this dude named Neil Favila that for some reason we like to invite out to our events and activities. He’s been working alongside us for a couple years now and has been steadily becoming a popular name in the industry. What separates Favila from the rest of the photographers out there is his ability to capture the moments that really give one a look into our present culture and chaotic lifestyle. Did we mention that hes super dope and cool and like, knows a bunch of badass people? Hes Legit. Heres a couple shots from Steves birthday…

“TAI IS AN INCREDIBLY TALENTED PRODUCER AND A BADASS DRIVER! HE IS A GOOD PERSON AND I WANTED THAT TO COME THROUGH IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS. I ALSO WANTED TO DRAW OUT AND CAPTURE A DARKER SIDE TO HIM THAT NOT MANY PEOPLE CAN SEE. HE IS SO CALM AND FRIENDLY BUT UNDERNEATH HE HAS A LOT OF EMOTION – ANGER, FRUSTRATION, DESIRE. THAT’S WHAT I WANTED TO FIND.”

Dim Mak Sundays x Drai’s Hollywood x RL Grime x The Cobrasnake

960 640 Tim Gauthier

If you live in the Los Angeles area, and didn’t make your way to Dim Mak Sunday at Drai’s for RL GRIME yesterday, you definitely missed one hell of a night. RL Grime did what he did best, and had everyone in the building on their feet with his trap set. Along with the great set, Steve Aoki, the man always on tour made a special appearance to show support along with a few other familiar faces. We’d like to thank everyone that was able to come out, and hope to see you all next Sunday for another wild night. If you weren’t able to join us check out our snapshots from the event, courtesy of The Cobrasnake.

Check out the full set on our Dim Mak Live Facebook page.

Dim Mak x Neil Favila x EDC

900 600 Dim Mak

Originally, I hadn’t planned on attending EDC – but a few days before the festival, my buddy Ryan gave me a proper pep-talk and convinced me to go, further telling me that “I wouldn’t be coming correct, If I didn’t attend”. It was decided, I was all-in for a bender of a weekend (which undoubtedly laid ahead). I reached out to my buddy Keith (Autoerotique), and sorted out credentials, so that I could bring my camera in without hassle. I’ve photographed numerous shows, gigs, festivals, etc…, but I’ve never been to / shot EDC. Naturally, I wanted to do something different with my photographs. A majority of the EDC photos that surface are typically edited in a similar manner, and shot from 1 or 2 perspectives: on stage (behind the dj) or from the crowd (facing the dj). In an effort to mix things up a bit, I decided to shoot the entire festival with my vintage 35mm film camera, while focusing on everything but the dj’s – more of a documentary approach.

Video: Steve Aoki & Sidney Samson “Wake Up Call” Feat. Michelle Rodriguez & Clifton Collins Jr.

Tim Gauthier

“I have been wanting to take a different approach with my music videos. When I heard this track and found out that Michelle Rodriguez and Clifton Collins Jr. were interested, I immediately knew it would work. As you’ll see, I took a more cinematic approach and used the music as a score. Working with all the actors (including Steve) was amazing and each of them brought incredible energy as you will see. A big thank you to Michelle, Clifton and Steve for letting me push as far as I did.

As far as the concept, I’ll let you figure it out.” – Jason Beattie (Director)
