Over the past decade, Belgian DJ extraordinaire Coone (aka Koen Bauweraerts) has been building a name for himself in dance music circles as a global ambassador for hardstyle, the bass-heavy, high-BPM genre that’s managed to wallop its way over the Atlantic from Europe. And stateside clubbers have indeed taken notice, with LA-based arbiter of taste Steve Aoki signing Coone to his own Dim Mak label. Hardstyle, it seems, is set for worldwide take-off. Now here’s your chance to make your mark in 2014 by remixing Coone’s hard-storming anthem “150 BPM” from his latest album, Global Dedication. Enter this Play contest before February 3 for your chance to win a Novation Launchkey 49, a Novation Launchpad S, and an official release on Dim Mak Records.

One would be hard pressed to find an event over the course of the year more controversial than the DJ Mag Top 100 poll. Controversy aside, the DJ Mag Top 100 poll still gathers the crowd sourced data of the masses to determine the who’s who of dance music. Some artists like Martin Garrix shot way up into the Top 100, while some veteran producers saw some new, fierce competition. This past year, we found ourselves fortunate enough to have our very own Steve Aoki reach the number eight spot.
New social media platform JustGo has created a social media tracking method to challenge DJ Mag‘s linear voting system. As opposed to ballots sent in by fans, JustGo measures social media interaction, with an emphasis on all the new fan interaction in the past year. The way it works is as follows…
“We looked at the Top 100 DJs by taking into account the number of Total Fans as well as New Fans acquired in 2013. While Total Fans is more reflective of a DJ’s overall popularity, New Fans – as we define it – is more reflective of current excitement. Therefore, we gave Total Fans a 2:1 weighting against New Fans or 60% for Total Fans versus 30% for New Fans.”
Under this new social media based system, Steve Aoki comes in at the number four spot! We could not be more excited to see how well he has done socially in the past year. Most of all- thank you to the fans for being the ones to bring in the new social media traction!
Check out the entire graph from JustGo below.

What can I say about Los Angeles? Warm weather, palm trees, and most importantly- good house. My name is Cubby Cramer; I am one of the interns at Dim Mak Records this fall. I hail from the cold and wintery land of Ithaca, a small hipster city in New York. As a senior Television-Radio student at Ithaca College, I am given the opportunity to study abroad in California. Dim Mak heard about my experience with dance music, from editing Your EDM to hosting my own dance radio show on WICB, so I was one of the lucky few brought on board. This past week was a moment many of us at Dim Mak were looking forward to, Steve Aoki at The Shrine. As his Los Angeles stop on the Aokify America tour, I was excited to see the other artists on the roster for the evening equally as much as Steve Aoki himself. Besides- it was snowing in Ithaca- I really couldn’t complain!
My evening started with Keys N Krates, who I was immediately was impressed with. Call me biased seeing as they are a Dim Mak faithful, but it was their live setup was the real kicker. The three man group is going to be one of the real game changers moving forward, merging djing, keyboards, and drums into one live act. Seeing as everyone is a DJ these days, a trap artist that has an atypical approach like this will easily put them in front of the pack. Case in point, their live rendition of “Dum Dee Dum” was excellent, with a long bridged section leading into the track we know and love.
This was an evening of firsts. While all the artists that night I had not previously seen, it was also the first time I had seen a rapper live. Waka Flocka came on stage to much rejoicing from the crowd, while DJ Ace dropped many Brick Squad Monopoly and gunshot sound effects. Both the crowd and myself enjoyed Waka’s hits like “Hard In Da Paint” and “Grove St. Party”, it was the Beatport Top 10 reaching “Wild Out” that set it off. Hearing this big electro house record live and seeing a sea of fans jumping in unison was a sight to behold.
Alvin Risk and Iggy Azalea were both fun in their own rights. Alvin Risk brought high energy electro and dubstep from his end, while Iggy Azalea dazzled with her dance moves and backup dancers. Alvin was sure to play his high profile works like his remix of “We Are Young” and his addictingly fun remix of “Earthquakey People” from Steve Aoki. Iggy Azalea had a crazy, reflective silver jumpsuit on this evening, stealing the show with her look. I could tell that the ladies in the audience really enjoyed her set, and personally I was happy to hear “Beat Down” live for a change.
Finally, Steve Aoki took the stage, the moment everyone had been waiting for. As a dance music journalist who closely watches the public opinion, I’ve been looking forward to seeing Steve perform for a long time. Steve Aoki often gets knocked by dance music purists for believing he does prerecorded sets- but truth be told- nothing is feigned in his live performance. When it came time to cake the crowd, to much audience jubilee mind you, Steve knew just how much time he’d have before jumping back on the decks to throw on another record. Steve was sure to drop both his upcoming releases like soon-to-be major electro hit “Aoki Jump” with R3hab while bringing back old favorites like “Warp 1.9” and “No Beef”.
I must also applaud Steve for inviting Travis Barker for live drumming tracks like “Push ‘Em” and a number of others. Then to go one step further, Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park joined on stage to perform “A Light Than Never Comes”. I had never expected so many guests to join Steve on stage, it really puts into perspective how many other artists he works with. Then to close the evening, Steve engaged the crowd in breaking the Guinness World Record for longest crowd scream. What else to say about this evening but wow, Steve and Dim Mak are clearly writing the manual to event success! I’ve seen my fair share of different DJs and musicians, but the energy of this evening was unreal. From start to finish, this night will go down as a testament on how to throw a proper house party.

Thanks to a pair of magic headphones — and, really, what headphones aren’t? — the two swap places, with Simmons becoming an EDM superstar and Aoki taking over one of Simmons’ workouts. Think Freaky Friday with lots of exercise outfits and choreography…
The March of the Afrojack series continues its wild parade in this latest installment, which finds the Dutch EDM superstar pool-party hopping in a whirlwind of DJ set debauchery with buddies Calvin Harris, Laidback Luke and Steve Aoki.
Afrojack heads over to Aoki’s pool party where the champagne flowed, the beats boomed and Afrojack proclaimed the Dim Mak honcho, “my best friend in music. I don’t know anyone I’m closer to in the whole music scene than Steve Aoki.”
The two go on to discuss their own friendship, with Aoki recalling their first meeting around 2009 and the track, “Show Me Your Hands,” that instantly came about from their first session together. The clip ends with some truly unique footage of “Afroki” – as the two so call themselves – swapping beats and working on what’s sure to be another raucous collaboration.

In need of some bass in your face? Do you have a need to get down on the dance floor? We’ll wait no more because Steve Aoki, Borgore and Waka Flacka Flame are coming to a city near you! The trio is bringing a never before seen blend of electronic bangers and hip hop for the most diverse thing to hit the dance music circuit. With all the bling, champagne and cake this is by far the most turnt up tour happening right now. So don’t wait because supplies are limited and running out fast.
Three great minds in music have come together on Dim Mak’s latest release, “Bring You To Life (Transcend)”. Defined by its warm lead sounds, “Transcend” was one of the most popular tracks on Steve Aoki’s It’s the End of the World As We Know It EP from this past December.
It is pretty rare to get the entire Dim Mak gang together with our demanding work schedules but we managed to squeeze in some good old fashion fun at the local bowling ally before our founder Steve “Aoki” embarked on his Aokify America tour. Lucky for us it was gay night so we felt right at home and completely comfortable singing along to classic 80’s jams in replace of our usual house bangers.
Steve took the role of team captain and divided us into three teams based off who bragged about their bowling skills and who could barley lift a bowling ball. After a few (or too many) beers we weren’t feeling competitive enough so Steve decided to up the anty a little bit with some prizes….free Adidas for the first place team and $100 for the second place team. That was all I had to hear and I had my game face on.
Each team had some key bowlers that evened out the playing field. Steve and our Vice President Lorne took on the role of bowling mentors offering tips and tricks to help win. Everyone became cheerleaders, high giving and cheering each other on. The scores were all pretty close but I will gladly brag about being on the winning team because I’m stoked for my new Adidas.
Being a charitable and generous company we decided against taking the $100 and donating all of the money to our always busy video production team. Feeling too hungry to play a second round we mobbed deep to the nearest Chipolte…for some free burritos #chipoltegang. After a long day in the office it was awesome to get out and spend some stress free fun time with the Dim Mak fam.
As he prepares to hit the road once again this fall, Grammy-nominated international producer/DJ and electronic dance music entrepreneur STEVE AOKI has announced additional support acts for his upcoming Aokify America Tour. For the tour, AOKI has drafted an elite group of artists from the DIM MAK roster—the independent record label, events and lifestyle company, and apparel line he founded in 1996 and presenting partner of the tour—including Felix Cartal, Autoerotique, Dirtyphonics, Keys N Krates, Garmiani, Deorro, Rune RK, and Botnek as well as a new, specially designed production from performer Kryoman entitled HEX3D. Already featuring a stellar lineup with bass “Legend” Borgore and hip-hop heavyweight Waka Flocka Flame as direct support, with special guest Pharrell Williams (The Neptunes/N.E.R.D.) appearing on select dates, the Aokify America Tour stands as one of the highlights on this year’s touring circuit. Tickets for the Aokify America Tour are on sale now: aokifyamerica.com.
The newly confirmed rotating talent on the Aokify America Tour adds a diverse array of artists spanning a wide spectrum of electronic music styles. Coming off his most successful release to date with the Past, Present, Felix EP on Dim Mak Records—praised by ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT and BILLBOARD.COM, who called featured track “New Scene” “one of the best dance recordings of the year”—Felix Cartal brings his signature electro house sounds. Toronto-based electro producer Autoerotique adds a heavier sound to the mix, best exemplified on the latest track“Play It Again” and the recent Asphyxiation (Remixes) EP, both out now on Dim Mak Records. Featured on AOKI’s Deadmeat Tour in 2012, French electronic dance music quartet DIRTYPHONICS return with their trademark heavy bass heard on their debut full-length album Irreverence and the corresponding No Stopping Us (Remixes) EP, both available now on Dim Mak Records. Dubbed “EDM’s hottest live band” by BILLBOARD.COM and featured by USA Today, Toronto-based live electronic outfit Keys N Krates recently released their SOLOW EP on Dim Mak Records, which highlights their trap-tinged electronic/hip-hop hybrid sound. Also featured on the tour are producers Garmiani, Deorro, house/techno artist Rune RK, and production/DJ duo Botnek. Additionally, performer Kryoman introduces his innovative production setup HEX3D on the Aokify America Tour, which pushes the boundaries of live, audiovisual performance art.
The new talent is not the only major tour announcement being made though. A proponent of pro-social causes and a philanthropist in his own right, AOKI’s Steve Aoki Charitable Fund is donating a dollar for every ticket sold throughout the tour to a charity selected by his fans via Facebook. Furthermore, for every year AOKI has been alive, he will match a corresponding $1,000 for a total of $36,000 on the tour. Fans will be encouraged to vote for their chosen charity from a group of four pre-selected organizations, including: American Brain Foundation, committed to curing brain disease; University of Rochester – Memory Care Program, providing diagnosis, treatment, and care of neurodegenerative conditions that affect the elderly and the aging nervous system; Brain Preservation Foundation, evaluating “plastination” and “cryonics,” two ways doctors might inexpensively preserve the brain of a dying person; and Infusio, pushing the fusion of cutting-edge science and the newest developments in complementary medicine placed in a spa-like healing environment. Fans can vote via a dedicated poll on STEVE AOKI’s official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Steve.Aoki) starting October 9 through November 23. Following the tour, AOKI will hand deliver the check to the chosen charity. For more information, visit: www.steveaokifund.com.
Meanwhile, STEVE AOKI is dominating the music world with the massive Linkin Parkcollaboration “A Light That Never Comes,” out now on Warner Bros. Records, and“Boneless,” a collaboration with Chris Lake and Tujamo (Ultra Music), which hit #1on Beatport.

One of the most renowned festivals in the world, Tomorrowland invites the worlds premiere DJs to perform under a dazzling array of sights and sounds. The Belgian festival got a taste of Dim Mak this past year, with the label’s very own Up All Night stage on the first day. Featuring the likes of Steve Aoki, Joachim Garraud, Dirtyphonics and Angger Dimas, the Up All Night stage left thousands of festivalgoers shocked, stirred, and satisfied. Aoki‘s closing set will go down as one of the highlight moments in Tomorrowland history, and it will be exciting to see what he has in store for the future.
The aftermovie encapsulates all three legendary days of the festival, assembled into over a half hour of brilliant footage and tracks from the DJs in attendance. Dim Mak has two songs in the aftermovie, one of which being “We Are Legend” by labelhead Steve Aoki and partners in crime Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. This new collaboration is a peaktime progressive anthem that is bound to make serious waves on the charts. The other Dim Mak track featured is “Feedback” by Steve Aoki & Autoerotique vs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike which is screamingly intense electro at its finest.
While Tomorrowland has come to a close for 2013, Dim Mak Records is looking forward to the festival coming across the Atlantic to Atlanta, Georgia. The inaugural edition of Tomorrowworld will feature an Up All Night stage much like its predecessor at Tomorrowland. Dim Mak is ready to show America what it has in store for both returning Tomorrowland fans as well as participants experiencing Up All Night for the first time at the end of September.

Sneaky Steve Aoki and Linkin Park had a surprise up their sleeve for Tokyo’s Summer Sonic Festival with a reveal of their latest collaboration “A Light That Never Comes”. The artists had been hinting about a mysterious collab in interviews and via twitter but left it up to the fan’s imaginations. Linkin Park had played earlier during the day but front man and rapper Mike Shinoda encouraged fans to stick around for Steve Aoki’s set (as if they weren’t going to already) for a special second appearance.
The two day festival is geared more towards baseball and rock bands but let Steve Aoki get the crowd hyped up as the first act of the “Midnight Sonic” program. Aoki was successful in getting the crowd back on the dance floor and ready to rave with hits like “Warp 1.9” and “Turbulence”. Fresh off a sugar high from all the cake throwing the audience was shocked to see Linkin Park frontmen Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington join Steve Aoki towards the end of his set. The sound was a total blend of the LP’s vocals and Aoki’s beats that is sure to a hit for fans of both genres. Aoki later tweeted, “Debuting a brand new song I wrote with Linkin Park was beyond Epic! Arigato Japan!” It turns out LP and Steve have been huge fans of each other and have been working together for over a year. More Aoki/Linkin Park collaborations will be released with the new LP video game titled “Recharge”.

What do you get when rock roots meet electro madness? You get the groundbreaking new remix of Psycho White’s (Travis Barker & Yelawolf) “Push ‘Em” by drum genius, Travis Barker, and Dim Mak’s very own, Mr. Steve Aoki…
One thing you shouldn’t expect from your favorite producer is one hell of a throwing arm. Unless, of course, your favorite producer is STEVE AOKI-the chief of Dim Mak Records and the chief of “holy crap did you see that?!” Just three days ago at VELD FEST, Steve performed one of his high energy, no holds barred shows for thousands of fans, and probably every person in that crowd wanted their cake and wanted to eat it too! One fan, wheelchair bound, was raised up high over the crowd when time came for Steve to pick the lucky cake recipient. The thing is….the guy was impossibly far away from where Steve stood on his sound table. The other thing is that there is no such thing as “impossible” when it comes to Steve Aoki, and he hurled the cake with stunning accuracy; the cake spiraled perfectly and KERPOW! Smashed the happiest fan alive right in the kisser. This is a must-see video. Instead of choosing someone closer, Steve adhered to the wishes of a fan who had no doubt had his own trouble even getting there; giving us yet another stunning example of the love and lengths Steve goes through for his fans, who love him right back.

Nobody does up all night DIRTY like the Dim Mak boys at Beatpatrol Festival 2013. In fact, if we were to rate the content of this video according to tit size, we’d say it’s pretty much THE DOUBLE DEEZ. Travis Barker and Yelawolf Get an EDM Overhaul in ‘Push Em’ (Steve Aoki and Travis Barker Remix) – Song Premiere
Ubiquitous drummer Travis Barker and electro master Steve Aoki have joined forces on a remix of “Push ‘Em”, a track from Barker and rapper Yelawolf’s 2012 EP Psycho White.
“Travis Barker is hands down my favorite musician to work with,” Dim Mak label founder and veteran remixer Aoki tells Rolling Stone. “Whether it’s original material like we did on ‘Misfits’ or ‘Cudi the Kid,’ or doing this remix for his group. . . [Barker] has the best vocal samples to use for a stomping club record.”

Steve Aoki is back for another wild installment of the Aoki Files, in f*cking Tenerife! This time the Dim Mak captain takes a moment away from his signature crowd surfing to chat with The Partysquad for a short and sweet interview about the “bomb banger” “P.O.V. 2.0” with The Death Set featuring Diplo released on Dim Mak Records. If you’re looking for an epic summer tune that goes harder than any other track out there, then you need to get your hands on this masterwork collaboration!
You won’t want to miss this exclusive interview with rapidly evolving DJ god Autoerotique as he gives Aoki the 4-1-1 on his hot new single “Apshyxiation.” Not only has the track blown up the Beatport charts in recent days, but it’s also launched viral web buzz with the incredibly erotic (no pun intended) music video featuring a bunch of scantily clad sex vixens playing an intense game of dodgeball. In other news, Autoerotique dishes on the recent remix EP for his Beatport-charting collaboration single with Felix Cartal, “The Alarm.” Be sure to head over to Autoerotique’s artist profile on the Dim Mak website to check out all of his latest releases and follow him on Twitter (@autoerotique) as he keeps making moves.
Get to know the latest addition to the Dim Mak Fam in this four minute exclusive interview with newly signed artist Clinton VanSciver. Listen to samples of the bangin tracks off VanSciver’s first ever EP, Indie Anna Jones, as the passionate young artist discusses his unique dirty pop style, his love of Nirvana and 90’s grunge, and his take on the ever emerging LA music scene. In this final installment of our 3 part series, the Dim Mak crew takes a day off (from our oh so hard lives) to enjoy a second day on the yacht where we got a visit from Xtreme Fly Board. They were nice enough to let us steal one of their jet-skis as well as let us try to fly around the bay. After a nice day, we ended our long week at Ultra Music Festival. We followed Steve to UMF for his second weekend performance at the festival…

Evolve. Transcend. Prepare. The future is near, and from the looks of it in Steve Aoki and Angger Dimas’ video for “Singularity” ft My Name is Kay, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. In this voyeuristic video, Steve is at the merciless hands of mad scientist My Name is Kay and her henchman as they turn Steve into a lab rat cyborg with major rager issues, all while the brilliant Ray Kurzweil narrates what the future of mankind will look like. Part science fiction, part futurist theory, the video for the chilling track “Singularity” begs one question: are you prepared for the Neon Future?
Dim Mak made it’s way to Miami for 2013’s WMC/MMW and Ultra Music Festival. Along with Steve Aoki‘s set at UMF, Dim Mak hosted two showcases welcoming two dream come true line ups at Raleigh Hotel and Story.
Upon landing in Miami, we headed straight to the We’re All Friends! Party featuring 8 labels including Mad Decent, WeDIdIt, Smog, and more.
