When he isn’t spending his time running the trap as RL Grime, Henry Steinway is annihilating dancefloors
Every artist knows that the highest form of a compliment is through imitation. From the outdoor coastal concept to the colorfully artistic effects, Big Sean’s latest music video for his single “10 2 10″ is exactly that.
Dim Mak’s own Clockwork released the music video for his single “Surge” back in June 2013 showcasing some unique and original effects against a back drop of the coastal wilderness. From the hike through the wooded trails to the shots of the waves and the clouds rolling in over the scene, it puts you at one with nature and the meaning of the lyrics “I can feel it in my body” shine through without question.
“10 2 10″ , released just about a week ago, boasts an oh so similar concept. Hike through the wooded trails? Check. Waves? Check. Clouds? Check. But wait, what about those super cool visual effects? Check. (Shout out @susboy911) It is super reminiscent of what we saw with Clockwork’s “Surge”… and that is awesome. As far as the lyrics and video creating cohesive concept, its not exactly on the money. With the song being about working from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and back again, when did he have time to stroll to the beach? I mean, since he was busy working and all.
So you be the judge. Who wore it best?
CLOCKWORK has handed this solid track over to be remixed by CHARLIE DARKER, TONY ROMERA, RIGGI & PIROS, and DEORRO, four producers who no doubt translate the anthem in a multitude of ways….

#15 Clockwork, feat. Wynter Gordon – “Surge” (Dim Mak)
For all EDM’s pop aspirations, it rarely nails that elusive crossover as perfectly as this extended serotonin rush of a song, which floods your brain just as forcefully whether you hear it in a field full of wide-eyed first-time ravers or waiting in line at the grocery store.
Dim Mak allstar Clockwork has just provided us a stellar video to go along with his uplifting and hard-hitting anthem “Surge,” which features some sweet vocals from Wynter Gordon. This track was one of the huge anthems of 2013 and if you made it out to any major festivals over the last six months you probably heard it dropped and perhaps even did a little fist-pumping to one of the track’s bleepy drops. The video echoes the high-energy nature of the track and features everything from friends running through the forest to electrified zombies dancing on some sort of post-apocalyptic beach. Points for creativity on this one… (via THUMP)
