Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike: A Deadmeat Introduction

They may still be only halfway through smashing the house out of their current North American tour, but Belgian upstarts Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike today announced, through this ever-so-slightly surreal teaser clip on their official YouTube channel, the news they will now be supporting none other than Steve Aoki and Datsik on the world-renowned and infamous Deadmeat Tour!

The pair have already carved out a huge reputation with US and Canadian dance fans over the past few months, and return for the second time this year in March at the bequest of Dim Mak’s iconic head honcho Aoki.

Confirming six dates on the massive tour — hitting the cities of Vernon and Vancouver in Canada and Seattle, Eugune, Portland and Sacramento in the States — for the brothers it’s yet another chance to show off the unique arena-busting style that is making them on of the most talked about new acts to emerge in recent years.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Deadmeat Tour Dates:
March 9th — Paramount Ballroom, Seattle (US)
March 10th — PNE Forum, Vancouver (Canada)
March 11th — McDonald Theatre, Eugene (US)
March 12th — Knitting Factory Concert House, Spokane (US)
March 13th — Roseland Theater, Portland (US)
March 14th — Estrellita Ballroom, Galt (US)

Josh Forbes

The World Class Driver video was directed by Josh Forbes. His interpretation of the track and inspiration for the video:
The concept for this video came from the lyric “take it real slow”. It sounded like something an old person might say. The next lyric is “so put the pedal to the floor”, which made me think of an old person rolling down the street like a badass in a Rascal scooter.
From there it became a game of “what sort of depraved things can I get old people to do?” and “how can we put an old person spin on it?” So instead of doing heroin, the guy’s freebasing Werther’s Original, and instead of watching some hardcore porn, they’re watching a video of Angela Lansbury giving herself a massage in a hot tub.
This is one of my favorite videos of all-time, even if I hadn’t made it. Apparently it creeps people out, but for me it’s just pure delight. It reminds me of Werner Herzog’s “Even Dwarves Started Small”, a movie about a group of insane Little People who take over their asylum and create their own micro-society. I like the idea of a world overrun by crazy old people. It scares the hell out of me.
