Calling all the basic trapheads! If you’re looking for something funky to get this weekend poppin’ then you’re in for a real treat. This week for #FreeFriday we have an exclusive remix of our very own Will Brennan’s “RNR” by Saffy Da Cat. Will Brennan, one of Beatport’s Featured Artists has made his mark on the Hip Hip charts. Be sure to check out his release of “RNR”, including the the Enferno Remix.
Now that we’re all fully recovered from SXSW and Ultra Music Festival we’d like to share with you raw footage from our Austin Showcase of Will Brennan free styling. This is just a taste of the rappers talent, who recently released his debut Dim Mak EP, RNR. For more videos of our recent adventures in Austin and Miami, check out our official YouTube channel.
Whether you prefer the sounds of dubstep bassiness or fast flowing, mind numbingly good lyrics (or perhaps a mixture of both), I have fantastic news; warm up your “high five” hand because we here at Dim Mak Records are super psyched to announce that our very own Will Brennan has landed at #9 on TrackItDown’s “Top 100 Dubstep Songs”!
It really shouldn’t be a surprise, especially if you’ve heard which song TrackItDown chose; RNR (Enferno Remix). This remix is nice and chunky, like delicious southwest salsa, and every bit as hot. Released exactly a week ago today on Dim Mak Records, “RNR” and its creator Will Brennan have had an incredibly exciting March. He tore up the stage at the Electric Lounge during SXSW, unleashed the “RNR” EP plus all its delicious remixes into the world, and now he’s hanging out at #9 on a list chock full of heavy hitters. I’d say that all the hard work this young Florida native is putting in has paid off, but the success of “RNR” and Brennan’s placement on the chart speaks loud and clear. Congrats Will & Enferno!
For one week out of the year, all eyes are on the Lone Star state as thousands of fans, bands, bloggers, vendors, and film geeks swarm the Texas state capital for SXSW.
This year, from March 14-16, a new venue with the electronic set in mind popped up on historic 6th street. Sponsored by blu eCigs, the Electric Lounge held free shows featuring some of today’s most popular and rising stars of the dance movement; so naturally, there were some incredible Dim Mak Records artists included in the lineup. We all know it’s not a party until it’s a Dim Mak party, and SXSW attendees learned that lesson first hand. Featured at the Electric Lounge were DMR artists Datsik, Keys N’ Krates, and Will Brennan. Playing to a packed, yet intimate crowd, the lounge was popping off like the buttons of a too-tight shirt on a too-round man.
Datsik did what he does the absolute best (see: blow minds) by playing tracks off of his newest EP, Cold Blooded(Firepower), as well as crowd favorites from the “Vitamin D” album.
The triple threat trio of Keys N’ Krates brought the house down with pumping vibrations, giving fans a taste of what’s to come in 2013 with “Treat Me Right”, the trios newest single that is placing on charts all across the board.
Will Brennan, riding the waves of his latest releases “RNR” and “Fall In Love” in celebration of the re-release of his album “Prodigal Son”, the hip hop/electro darling gave Electric Lounge a performance that dared the attendees to not throw their hands up and get down.
All in all, Dim Mak Records artists showed native Austinites and international visitors alike that the label features diverse artists who know how to please an equally diverse crowd. Thanks to everyone who supported our hard working artists at this years SXSW, and an extra special thanks to #blu eCigs and #ElectricLounge for shining their spotlight on Dim Mak Records.
Check out some of the madness that took place in the photobooth on Thursday. See the full set here.
Dim Mak Records in collaboration with The Wayward Minds and DJ Burn One present the Double A-Side release of Will Brennan‘s “RNR” and “Fall In Love.” These singles serve as the first offering from the re-release of Will Brennan‘s “Prodigal Son” on Dim Mak Records. The single package also features bass-heavy Trap remixes from DJ Enferno, Austin Millz, Scott Dro, and DJ Codeman.
Will Brennan releases his first in-house collaboration with fellow Dim Mak artists Keys N Krates, Madeon – Icarus (Keys N Krates feat. Will Brennan Remix). As Brennan states, the conception of this track stemmed from “the kind of music (he) wants to wake up to.” The song serves as an autobiography, as Brennan shares his “dreams of being rap stars captured off lunch tables at school”. The grand and driving production provided by Keys N Krates provides a perfect backdrop for Brennan’s inspirational rhymes.
Keep an eye and ear out for the next special release, followed by many more giveaways.
Today, The Smoking Section premieres the latest from Dim Mak’s Hip Hop signee Will Breanan, “Pressure” produced by DJ Burn One and 5PMG. Atlanta’s staple producer, DJ Burn One plants a springboard sampling Regina Spektor “Dance Anthem of the 80’s” joined by flourishing piano notes and sharp beats that play for Will Brennan to profess about “Pressure”. The lyrics let up, and the track closes with a guitar belting out and a lithesome piano trail.
“I have been performing these verses acapella at all of my shows for a few months to make sure people hear the lyrics. I could never find the right beat for it until Burn One and co. laced “Pressure.” It’s a personal mission statement about who I am and who I’m trying to become.” – WILL BRENNAN
We’d like to invite you all to take a look at Will Brennan’s latest video, “Let’s Play Liar Liar.” The two minute video features tantalizing visuals to go along with the track off his latest mixtape, “More Perfect Union” which is now available for free download on SoundCloud. Enjoy!
This Winter, DIM MAK RECORDS is proud to announce the signing of upstart West Palm Beach rapper, WILL BRENNAN. In celebration of the signing, VIBE will feature the world premiere for Will Brennan’s Dim Mak debut mixtape “MORE PERFECT UNION”. The mixtape features a variety of production notables from Pretty Lights, Zeds dead, Kaskade, Deadmau5, Xaphoon Jones, Julian Cruz, Araabmuzik and Heroes x Villains.
The first from the mixtape, “All Of The Pretty Lights” breezes in with Rihanna’s hook and Pretty Lights’ beat butchering, and then, Brennan comes in punching with his natural knack for rhymes. “Going Through Under The Sheets” samples Wales singer Ellie Goulding’s electropop single, while Brennan flutters in with a deftly timed flow. Brennan delivers a short narrative on top of a genre-bending take of Warwicks “I Say A Little Prayer For You”, chopped by Zeds Dead. Bravados are not missing from the mixtape, “Remember To Fall In Love” and “Get By With The Golden Touch”, pull in Brennan’s strong suit for fearless flows.
Will Brennan embodies the charisma, versatility and flow-skill to bring a new kind of personality to the rap game. Brennan has supported rap titans like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, B.O.B., Yela- Wolf, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Dom Kennedy and Wale. Dim Mak will be releasing Brennan’s “PRODIGAL SON” with additional remixes early 2013.
