[Beatport Exclusive] SBCR – “Spider” (Remix Contest Winners)

1694 916 Tim Gauthier

SBCR aka Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo aka The Bloody Beetroots‘ “Spider” receives the remix treatment from three outstanding Beatport Play contest winners. In first place, Ricky Mears playfully disrupts the original soundscape by oscillating between a trap backbeat and a dubstep breakdown. In a dramatically more minimal approach, the first runner-up, Splash In The House, chops up the vocals and spews them into a melodic, piano-led progressive haunter. Rounding out the collection is the deep house rendering from second runner up N4C, whose smooth heater includes a transformation of the original vocals into dancehall banter.

#FreeFriday Episode No. 096: Clockwork – Champion (Michael Wayne Remix)

1920 1080 Tim Gauthier

It’s Friday and here’s a new remix for you to love!

“As I was remixing Clockwork’s Champion track, I wanted to go outside the norm of a tradition dance track by incorporating some non-conventional sounds, that’s why I turned to a Kontact orchestra library to add some organic instruments to the track. Clockwork mentioned he wanted people to get as original as possible while calling on all genres and all producers. I also kept in mind Dim Mak’s taste in dance music at the same time. Bridging those two gaps is what created my remix. While the original track had no vocals, I had to use the lead synth as my remixing source; I chopped up this lead into a new riff that added excitement to the remix while keeping the core idea of the track at hand. I also added violins, cinematic drum smashes, trap snares, Melbourne bounce bassline with an overall big room house feel to the track to keep things original, fun and fresh!”

Coone & Jim Ferren – 150 BPM (Remixes)

800 800 Tim Gauthier

150 BPM” received over 1,000 remix treatments from around the globe, but only two were chosen to be released on the remix EP. We would like to congratulate the Grand Prize winner ‘The Unit’ who revamped the tune with bass in-your-face growls and agreed that “this track would be a hit at 150 beats per minute!” The runner up ‘Not Available’ was personally chosen by Coone for his well crafted switch up from Hardstyle to Big Room House.

Bring You To Life Remix Contest – And the winner is…

940 351 Tim Gauthier

After much consideration of a whopping assortment of multi genres submissions, the winner of the Dancing Astronaut, Dim Mak & WAVO “Bring You To Life (Transcend)” remix competition has been awarded to REGOTON!

Regoton has utilized smart production, an irresistible Melbourne-Bounce lead and great variation that edged out the other contenders. However the competition was so fierce, we felt two other remixes were very close so we have awarded them our Staff Choice winners: Hallvard Vaaland Remix and Inscape Remix, both bringing two unique takes. Hallvard Vaaland creates high energy anthemic vibes that will impress progressive house fans and on the flip side, Inscape takes a direction opposite to many of the other submissions by demonstrating how chill & downtempo influences can be implemented in reworking a track into a wholly different vibe.

Congratulations & thanks for your entries!

Singularity – PeaceTreaty’s ‘In Time’ Beatport Play Contest Winner!

500 500 Tim Gauthier

When it came to remixing PeaceTreaty’s “In Time,” the LA-based producer known as Singularity proved to be the best at taking up the task, nabbing the DCAM: Synth Squad and Tremor soft-synths from FXpansion, $500 worth of gear from Ambig, a pair of Sabre sunglasses, a year-long subscription to Future Music and Computer Music magazines, and the Sounds To Sample Elements Library. But, most importantly of all, Singularity’s version of the song is now set to appear on a forthcoming remix collection from Dim Mak.

“I’m just really glad everyone enjoyed the track as much as I enjoyed making it,” says the SoCal producer. Given the response his rework got, it’s safe to say he had a pretty damn good time making this one.

Congrats again to Singularity, and all other the 350+ plus contestants!!! We’re blown away with all the support. You’ve all done an amazing job with this single.
