In a recent interview with KROQ’s Stryker, Aoki discussed how some of these seemingly strange relationships came to be. “I’ve known Foo for a really long time,” he explained when Stryker probed into the origin of Aoki’s relationship with LMFAO’s Red Foo. They met via a number of parties thrown by Aoki’s label, Dim Mak.

Some of you might not know this but Steve started out in the Hardcore punk scene. Actually the first ever dim mak release was a hardcore ep. After releasing A hardcore single with Bob Rifo as Rifoki his Album Wonderland was a logical step to again introduce part of his roots Amsterdam’s Sick Boy also came from a background of loud guitars so when the two decided to collaborate on “The Kids will have their say” it was inevitable that it would be a loud in your face track with a punk influenced attitude.
What would be cooler then having people play on it that influenced Generations of kids to pick up a guitar or drumsticks? Here’s a Lil info on “Big” John and Erik, the guitarplayer and drummer on the track.
Now that the dust of Austin, TX has settled, the editorials recapping the month-long SxSW event have started to appear. Jay-Z’s “Life + Times” had managed to get ahold of Steve during his SxSW performance, to touch a little more on the January-release of “Wonderland”
It’s a Friday night in Austin, Texas and the air is abuzz with people from every corner of the globe looking to get a bite of SXSW’s musical offerings. Steve Aoki, one of electronic dance music’s biggest DJs, producer and founder of Dim Mak Records, closes out the mtvU Woodie Awards with a high intensity set and unexpected drop-in from Lil’ Jon to perform “Turbulence.” After the performance, Aoki, clad in graffiti jeans and a loose Dim Mak tank, looks more like he just walked off a plane from Los Angeles instead of a humid, hot Texas stage after an energetic DJ set. Here, Aoki sits with Life + Times to talk about everything from the future of dance music to his fashion collection.

MuchMusic.com has launched a full-album stream of Steve Aoki’s “Wonderland” release on their website, featuring all 13 of the iTunes ‘top-charted’ tracks. If you have yet to purchase your copy, this is a perfect way to preview what’s in store on “Wonderland”.
Buzzine.com got with the boss-man Steve Aoki to discuss the recent (unexpected) success of “Wonderland”; the remarkable new full-length album to reach a height of Number 9 on the iTunes Top 10 Albums.
“Ever since his college days at UC Santa Barbara, Steve Aoki has been something of a modern-day renaissance man. Party Promoter, Producer, DJ, Label Owner, Activist, Designer, and Manager are all titles that all could be reasonably added to his Dim Mak business card, if he so desired, but when Buzzine’s Stefan Goldby headed into the Hollywood Hills to visit with Steve at his Wonderland Studios, the stated topic was something new: Aoki’s brand new debut artist album of all-original tracks.
Pulling together contributions from musicians as wide-ranging as Travis Barker, Lil Jon, Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Kid Cudi, The Exploited, and Lovefoxxx (CSS), Wonderland serves as both notice of the arrival of a major new component of an already successful career, and a peek into the world of its creator. Just hours after the album was released digitally, and fresh off a plane from Vegas, Steve Aoki shared the details of his journey so far, beginning with music and spinning out into his thoughts on the music industry in 2012; the past, present, and future of Dim Mak’s world; and the philosophy and inspiration that his independent entertainment empire is founded upon.”

Of his latest album Wonderland, Steve Aoki said, “This album is a spectrum of music that influences me.” That’s part of what makes the project so interesting. The party-starting DJ has shown off his skills on all types of production, and for Wonderland he brings it all together for an eclectic union of music and guest features ranging from Kid Cudi to Rivers Cuomo.
Check out this behind-the-scenes video of Steve Aoki giving some insight into the making of his first full-length album. During the video you’ll see a man who has been lit on fire, a Skype conversation with Lil Jon, and Aoki in a Native American headdress explaining how some of the songs came about.

Early this morning RollingStone.com premiered the new video for Steve Aoki’s Ladi Dadi, featuring Wynter Gordon.
“Dance producer Steve Aoki teams up with “Dirty Talk” songstress Wynter Gordon on “Ladi Dadi,” the second single from his album Wonderland. The track’s sultry house sound is punctuated with grinding dubstep notes on the chorus, adding some drama to the four-on-the-floor beat.
The music video for “Ladi Dadi” further ratchets up the drama – Aoki and Gordon play characters straight out of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, taking turns trying to seduce and kill one another.”
“This was the first time I ever got to do action [in a music video],” “I loved the entire experience, especially our amazing balcony- diving, stair falling stunt doubles!” ~ Steve Aoki

#1 Tech Site in the world posts about Steve Aoki and his album Wonderland, Turntable.fm & Sol Republic!
Listen to Steve Aoki World Premiere Tracks on Turntable.FM Right Now
Musicians streaming and debuting tracks online is nothing new, but using Turntable.FM as an outlet for those songs is somewhat unheard of. Yet, that’s exactly what Steve Aoki is doing, being the first established musician to premiere two brand new tracks on the social music service for the first time.
Aoki’s been a mainstay in the LA electronic scene for the last half-decade or so, will be playing in his Turntable.FM room starting now. 200 people at a time can hop in the room and give them a listen (and if you want to see behind the scenes there’s also a Ustream channel here). Furthermore, Sol Republic is involved in this, and are giving away free headphones during the listening session. So hop on over and check it all out. – Gizmodo
