PONY UP!

pony up picture
The latest upholders of feminine prestige in the race for hit parade honors are a commanding fivesome calling themselves Pony up! Formed New Year's eve 2002, they spent a year together honing their skills and shaping their sound, before unleashing it on the world, debuting at a pizza parlor in Burlington, Vermont. They spent the next year wowing crowds in one-horse towns and sprawling metropolises alike, loading their gear into various clubs, art galleries, and abandoned movie theatres.

Armed with a veritable arsenal of pop hits, Pony up! entered the Hotel 2 Tango studios in the fall of 2003. They cut eleven strange and wonderful tracks, seven of which are slated for an ep release in fall of 2004.

Comprised of sisters, roommates, coworkers, and lifelong friends, Pony up! is a genuine labor of love for all involved. With Lisa J. Smith on bass, Lindsay Wills on drums, Laura Wills on keyboards, Sarah Moundroukas on guitar, and Camilla Wynne Ingr on everything else, they rotate lead vocals and deliver inspired harmonies to a rapt audience at every show. Indeed, Montreal's beloved, phenomenal pop combo always bring down the house.

About Ten Fingers Records

ben and steveThis label was all just a pipe dream until one night in March 2004 Ben Lee shared several ales with Steve Aoki, budding entrepreneur and head of Dim Mak records (who have put out releases by The Kills, The Von Bondies, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Dance Disaster Movement, and many more great bands). Steve offered to help Ben realize his fantasies of a dictatorial musical empire by suggesting Ten Fingers and Dim Mak create a partnership to release music. Over subsequent months Steve and Ben shared weekly power lunches at the Kung Pao Chinese Bistro in Hollywood to plot world domination and eat vegetarian sweet and sour chicken. They are now ready to unveil their plans to the curious.

The debut 7" single for the label is an awesome piece of rock history in the making. Pony Up! present "Heard You Got Action" - a tribute to kissing and telling. Ben Lee offers up a cover of the Modest Mouse insta-classic "Float On". Why? Why not.
