Talk about Kickin out the Jams, Spain's most recent calling to MC5 is the radically refined garage rock'n roll explosion Tokyo Sex Destruction. 10 Rock'n roll hits that are filled with all the yeah yeahs and all the syncopated claps and guitar breaks and vocal leads and dance steps and catchy choruses. This album is explosive! Strong Nation of Ulysses/Make Up hybrid politic and style uniformity throughout their lyrics and image. On one hand it generates sounds more like The Sonics or Sly and The Family Stone but with the same political element as bands like International Noise Conspiracy. Ben Swank of Soledad Brothers says live they remind him of the same energy as the Datsuns with their wild shows. All power to the people motherfuckers!

A gaggle of Sinclair-surnamed Spaniards sporting mtching pipe-cleaner trws and surly attitudes, Tokyo Sex Destruction have arrived to inject some much-needed life into the listless world of politically-tinged garage rock. More to the point than (International) Noise Compiracy's A NEW MORNING (CHANGING WEATHER), less pompous than make-up's IN MASS MIND, and nearly as vituperative as Manic Street Preachers' GENERATION TERRORISTS, LE RED SOUL COMMUNITTE (10 POINTS PROGRAM)'s breackneck, brew of gutter-punk guitars, smutty soul bomp, and shattering lyrical tirades screams by in less than 30 minutes -nakedly brazen and absolutely fucking ruthless in its forthright brevity.

It's tough call -with their dangerous sounding name, the "revolutionary violence" biligual (Spanish) liner notes, the universal adoption of Sinclair (white panther philosopher who heavily influenced other uniformly monikeres bands who went before them) as a band surname, Tokyo Sex Destruction posturing loads of face with no substance or is there a message buried somewhere in the medium ? Take their rock-channeled soul pretty seriously, with characteristic handclaps, hommonds and chorus' sprinkled with "hey hey heys" and "yeah yeah yeahs" which measures up nicely into a good garage-y sounding record, but the revolution is still a way off.

These Spaniards got so high from sniffing the MC5's revolutionary shtick that they took the collective surname Sinclair though they eschew garb for a Hives-cum-Make-Up button down uniform. Rock n' roll deja vu.
