Identity Festival Preview: We Talk With Steve Aoki, Nervo, Figo, Jessie And The Toy Boys and Others
By Catherine Downes
Identity Festival recently kicked off its 20-city tour of the United States, and it comes to Hollywood Palladium this Sunday.
LA Weekly talked to many of the biggest name performers and asked them a simple question:
Why should anyone come to see your set?
“If you know my music and you like my music, that’s the number one reason, because everything else is all based around that. I’m playing all my records, I’m playing a lot of new songs. And now, specifically, on this tour, I’m doing my new live show. And this live show is such a big deal that I can’t really bring it out on any other shows. So the only time you can actually see this live show is on this tour. My bus alone is full of technicians; I got visual, I got production, [I got] structural technicians. It’s like a big ordeal. I spent a lot of time and money to make sure the end outcome is epic.” – Steve Aoki

Desigual, the fun-loving Spanish apparel brand that’s rapidly expanding in the U.S., has announced an in-store promotion for the brave: Undie Party! The first 100 people arriving at Desigual’s new Third Street Promenade store in Santa Monica – wearing just their underwear – will walk out in a FREE two-piece Desigual outfit. Any 1 top, any 1 bottom – their choice. The value can exceed $1,000 per participant, depending on which items they nab.
When the doors open and the first 100 are admitted, this shopping spree will take on a festive atmosphere. Contestants will have the store to themselves for 1 hour to snap up their Desigual goodies. All apparel on the racks will be up for grabs! And the store will debut the just-arriving autumn/winter 2011 “Dream” collection. Undie Party is open to male and female adults at least 18 years old. Photo ID required.
And, all people in line after the first 100 will receive a 50% discount on same-day purchases.
Oh yeah, it’s been done before…
