Watch Steve Aoki’s Latest Video “Heartbreaker” On MTV!

Tim Gauthier

Steve Aoki’s “Heartbreaker”, the third video off his latest full-length album Wonderland, is now available to watch on MTV and MTV.com!

With the MTV Woodies around the corner, MTV is in full swing with all things Aoki-related; starting with the premiere of his brand-new video “Heartbreaker,” featuring Brazilian singer Lovefoxxx. Guest DJ Danny Masterson is on the ones and twos as Lovefoxxx takes us back to the ’70s — it’s roller-skating time, y’all. Lovefoxxx seduces a few grimy-looking dudes at a trippy roller rink with a glowing neon heart radiating from her chest. But in the end it’s Steve Aoki’s soupy black heart that rests in his chest that she wants. (That’s always my problem, too.) Lovefoxxx sings over a light electro beat, “Would you let me be your heartbreaker?” Cue the big streamer party — everyone lives happily ever after. (Again, Los Angeles.)

Don’t miss Steve Aoki when he performs at the mtvU Woodie Awards March 18 on MTV and mtvU, watch his “Heart Breaker” video featuring Lovefoxxx.

Steve Aoki Performing Closing Set At MTV’s Woodie Awards!

Tim Gauthier

Steve Aoki will close MTV’s reformatted Woodie Awards at South by Southwest March 15, following the likes of Childish Gambino, Santigold and A$AP Rocky on stage.

“I’ve never done an awards ceremony, so I’m actually really honored to be a part of it,” Aoki told TheWrap. “It’s an amazing time where underground music can break out and crack the mainstream code without playing by the conventional rules. I’m really really happy that MTV has opened up its doors to electronic dance music.”

MTV created the Woodie Awards to showcase up and coming or “underground” artists. Past top winners at the event include the Killers, Lupe Fiasco and Kings of Leon.

“It was created to be the antithesis of the big, glossy music awards that exist, to recognize more emerging, cutting-edge artists having success in their own right,” Amy Doyle, MTV’s EVP of Music & Talent Strategy, told TheWrap.

Last year, they moved it to the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, hosting an awards show one day and a festival the next.

This year they combined the two into an all-day event, culminating in the awards show. Along with the new format, they chose to shine a light on EDM, a burgeoning genre (or group of genres) that has made its way into the mainstream.

Featured on Hypetrak: Steve Aoki – A Decade to Wonderland

Tim Gauthier

Believe it or not, it has been ten plus years in the making for Steve Aoki’s debut album Wonderland to release. Quite astonishing considering the success he has had with music over the years with this live set tours, and notable works as a DJ and producer. It should be noted though that his new album pulls together a groundbreaking lineup of features that include KiD CuDi, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Lil Jon, Travis Barker, LMFAO – all of which he points out are close friends of many years. The Wonderland album is out now and while he has embarked on his North American tour soon making its way to Europe. We met up with the time-tested artist and conversed about his new record, his visions and plans for it… (via HYPETRAK.COM)

Preview: Autoerotique – Bring That Beat Back (Tiësto Edit)

Tim Gauthier

Out March 12th!

Following their huge remix of Tiësto’s “Work Hard, Play Hard” in 2011, Autoerotique is at it again, this time with an original, “Bring That Beat Back”.

True to Autoerotique’s style, “Bring That Beat Back” is a ruthless electro rattler. After label boss Tiësto got his hands on the tune for a custom edit, the track has become even more of a monster, with just the right touch for those huge festival crowds.

Replete with a tooth-cracking, big room build and Autoerotique’s patented synth lines, crowds of any size will be getting down to “Bring That Beat Back” well into Summer.

Atari Teenage Riot – US & World Tour for 2012!

Tim Gauthier

Atari Teenage Riot Presents: Is The Hyperreal? 2012 World Tour!

Atari Teenage Riot toured worldwide throughout 2011 and in November recorded this live show in Tokyo to bring listeners just a taste of their incendiary live show, described by the NME as “…a cavalcade of forever-young yelps: a brilliantly nasty volley of universe-shaping techno-metal.” Rock-a-Rolla wrote: “Seizure-inducing levels of strobe lighting are joined by breakbeats, jungle, drum ’n’ bass and caustic guitar samples at every turn, providing enough variety and energy to prove that this is no mere nostalgia trip for them, this is a return to arms.”

Now if that doesn’t tempt you….

2012 is the 20th anniversary of Atari Teenage Riot so expect much to happen this year, including a remastered version of the classic ‘Burn, Berlin, Burn’ album, new singles and a studio album. The band will be touring internationally, beginning in February in Europe and South America, continuing throughout Europe, with stops in North America, including a live performance at the 2012 Coachella Music Festival.

Visit the official Atari Teenage Riot Tour page for all dates and ticketing information.

Anonymous & Atari Teenage Riot Are ‘Back With a Hack’

Tim Gauthier

The frontman and moniker familiarized by the Occupy Wall Street movement, Anonymous, has frequently attacked Neo-Nazi activists across Europe, trying to remove all web-outlets praising their organization. Earlier this morning, Anonymous successfully hacked their ‘mail-order’ website, sending this message, alongside an Atari Teenage Riot track, to all members linked within their server:

ARTISTdirect “Leaks” Atari Teenage Riots’ “Riot In Japan 2011”

Tim Gauthier

“It’s about energy,” exclaims Atari Teenage Riot singer Alec Empire of the band’s live gigs.

The digital hardcore pioneers distill visceral energy into Riot in Japan 2011. Captured during their triumphant set at the Fuji Rock Festival, the group’s latest release for Dim Mak is an explosive and energizing snapshot of one of their legendary live performances. The band sounds intensely infectious as they run through classic songs as well as “Activate!” Empire and co. did something that’s normally impossible for rock and electronic acts—they made a live record that really does make listeners feel like they were there. Not only that, it’s as potent as one of their studio efforts.

Riot in Japan 2011 drops on February 28, 2012 via Dim Mak, but Atari Teenage Riot has partnered with ARTISTdirect.com to exclusively stream the album below.
