Atari Teenage Riot & Rowdy Present The February Beatport Chart

Tim Gauthier

Atari Teenage Riot and Rowdy have released the official February Beatport chart, featuring 10 must-have tracks for all fans of ATR community alike. We’re pretty impressed with this chart as it truely encompasses the varying and unique style of ATR’s sound. With the addition of Rowdy, we’re excited to see what new sound might come in the near future.

“Rowdy Superstar is the first British member of ATR which is interesting considering the role of the UK in the evolution of the band “We need a true voice from Great Britain! The London riots last year, the politics, etc etc … it is more important than ever to hear a musician who is so close to all that while the musical mainstream doesn’t reflect the reality anymore.” ~Alec Empire

February Chart Tracklisting:
– Atari Teenage Riot – Ghost Chase
– Maluca – El Tigeraso (Sticky K Remix)
– Dan Siciliano – Wifey
– D.A.F. – Im Dschungel Der Liebe
– Black Devil Disco Club – In Doubt feat. CocknBullKid
– Crewdson – Mini Giblet

Felix Cartal – Domo

“Domo” in Japanese is a greeting meaning something along the lines of “Well, hello there!” It’s also the title of the new song from Dim Mak recording artist FELIX CARTAL who today celebrates the release of remixes by Étienne de Crécy and Pierce Fulton via Beatport and iTunes. “DOMO” is the second single, following “Don’t Turn On The Lights,” off of FELIX CARTAL’s album DIFFERENT FACES out March 27 on Dim Mak.

Featuring illustration by London-based illustrator Dan Stafford, the general idea for the “DOMO” video was to produce something that really worked with the huge drops and blistering pace of the track. “When Felix and I were talking about what to do for the video we had loads of really complicated ideas about Japan, 90’s club culture and making a short anime cartoon, but we quickly boiled the idea down to a simple visualization of the track with a theme of moving from sense to complete nonsense,” says Stafford. “It all came together as a journey from a hoop-jumping-rat-race to a frenetic weekend mess, all slathered in J-pop color. DOMO!”

Dim Mak Presents: Skrillex & Alvin Risk, Live at Dim Mak Studios

Tim Gauthier

“Skrillex’s six night hometown tour began yesterday, when the local boy-done-good held court before a sold out crowd at Cinespace. It might have seemed like an unusual venue choice; he normally plays for thousands at festivals, while Cinespace is an intimate spot where you often catch DJs hanging out at the bar.

But the Hollywood venue — home to Dim Mak’s famed Tuesday night parties — strongly influenced a young Sonny Moore back in the mid-’00s. As he noted last night, without the party and its founder Steve Aoki, there wouldn’t be a Skrillex.”

Florida’s Alligator Features Felix Cartal As “The Next Big Thing In EDM”

Tim Gauthier

“I’ve always loved electronic music, even as a child. I have memories of jamming out to Benny Benassi’s “Rock ‘N’ Rave” album in the car with my grandmother on my way home from middle school. It’s funny to think that now everywhere I look, I see a reflection of my younger music years. Not to say that I don’t indulge in that type of music any more, because I do — probably way more than I should. With that said, I would like to focus this week’s Sound Drip on an EDM producer whom I feel deserves a bit more time in the spotlight: Felix Cartal.”
