Thanks to a pair of magic headphones — and, really, what headphones aren’t? — the two swap places, with Simmons becoming an EDM superstar and Aoki taking over one of Simmons’ workouts. Think Freaky Friday with lots of exercise outfits and choreography…

The March of the Afrojack series continues its wild parade in this latest installment, which finds the Dutch EDM superstar pool-party hopping in a whirlwind of DJ set debauchery with buddies Calvin Harris, Laidback Luke and Steve Aoki.
Afrojack heads over to Aoki’s pool party where the champagne flowed, the beats boomed and Afrojack proclaimed the Dim Mak honcho, “my best friend in music. I don’t know anyone I’m closer to in the whole music scene than Steve Aoki.”
The two go on to discuss their own friendship, with Aoki recalling their first meeting around 2009 and the track, “Show Me Your Hands,” that instantly came about from their first session together. The clip ends with some truly unique footage of “Afroki” – as the two so call themselves – swapping beats and working on what’s sure to be another raucous collaboration.

Toronto-based live electronic outfit KEYS N KRATES have today (October 17) partnered with MTV Clubland and mtvU for the premiere of the official music video for their breakthrough single “Dum Dee Dum” from their recently released SOLOW EP, out now on Dim Mak Records. The video made its on-air debut this morning on MTV Clubland and is also featured on MTV2 and mtvU. Watch the “Dum Dee Dum” music video here: http://goo.gl/xNJbVM.
Directed by Slave Labour, the video is a hilarious mockumentary that explores the Mennonite culture. In the video, the director visits various Mennonite communities and introduces members to current technology unbeknownst to them, including iPods, boom boxes, and more, all the while blaring the “Dum Dee Dum” track in full blast. The reaction from the Mennonite community to the alien sounds of “Dum Dee Dum” is priceless.
This film brings a totally new perspective to movement as a simple hoola hoop contrasts straight line with circles around a dancer. The all female creative team worked diligently frame by frame to connect the lines with the hoop and their attention to detail is exquisitely pleasing to the eye. This video has won awards all over the world including the PEARL winner-film/ Pool-festival, Berlin. Top ten in Cinema Perpetuum Mobile Film Festival, ANIMA 2013 in Argentina, Baixada Animada in Brazil, Cut Out Fest and the Female in Film Industry in Mexico.
Get your fire extinguishers out, y’all, because this episode of #AOKIFILES is on fire (which may explain the hole in Steve’s shorts)! Steve hangs out with the extraordinary singer, producer, visionary, “monk,” KENNA to get the dirt on what fans and tastemakers alike can expect from the collection of EPs Kenna is hitting us with this year. With what Steve describes as a “classic dance record”, Kenna is part of the evolution of Dim Mak Records with the release of his single “Relations (An Ode to You and Me)”. Watch the episode for more info on the 3 chapters of Kenna’s release, find out what artist helped Kenna make his “alien-esque” EP, and keep your ears wide open for the fantastic dance sounds emerging from this self-proclaimed nerd (whereas we prefer to think of him as a genius)!

Admit it: you don’t really read the endless terms and conditions connected to every website you visit, phone call you make or app you download. But every day, billion-dollar corporations are learning more about your interests, your friends and family, your finances, and your secrets… and are not only selling the information to the highest bidder, but freely sharing it with the government. And you agreed to all of it. With fascinating examples and so-unbelievable-they’re-almost-funny facts, filmmaker Cullen Hoback exposes what governments and corporations are legally taking from you every day – turning the future of both privacy and civil liberties uncertain. From whistle blowers and investigative journalists to zombie fan clubs and Egyptian dissidents, this disquieting exposé demonstrates how every one of us has incrementally opted-in to a real-time surveillance state, click by click- and what, if anything, can be done about it. Every artist knows that the highest form of a compliment is through imitation. From the outdoor coastal concept to the colorfully artistic effects, Big Sean’s latest music video for his single “10 2 10″ is exactly that.
Dim Mak’s own Clockwork released the music video for his single “Surge” back in June 2013 showcasing some unique and original effects against a back drop of the coastal wilderness. From the hike through the wooded trails to the shots of the waves and the clouds rolling in over the scene, it puts you at one with nature and the meaning of the lyrics “I can feel it in my body” shine through without question.
“10 2 10″ , released just about a week ago, boasts an oh so similar concept. Hike through the wooded trails? Check. Waves? Check. Clouds? Check. But wait, what about those super cool visual effects? Check. (Shout out @susboy911) It is super reminiscent of what we saw with Clockwork’s “Surge”… and that is awesome. As far as the lyrics and video creating cohesive concept, its not exactly on the money. With the song being about working from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and back again, when did he have time to stroll to the beach? I mean, since he was busy working and all.
So you be the judge. Who wore it best?
If anyone knows how to make music that resonates across genres, it’s without a doubt Bloody Beetroots. This is obvious when you put the likes of Bloody Beetroots with rapper Theophilus London, a man known for his own genre smashing sounds that touch the soul of music in an entirely unique way. Peep the video below for insight as to how Theophilus came to collaborate with Dim Mak’s own Bloody Beetroots and stay tuned for the release of “All The Girls (Around the World)”, due out in September!
ATTENTION FESTIVAL JUNKIES: The long-awaited third installment of our 2013 Up All Night Beatpatrol Series is NOW LIVE on the Dim Mak YouTube! DISCLAIMER: DO NOT WATCH THIS SERIES IF YOU’RE OFFENDED BY ANY OF THE FOLLOWING; Datsik’s a**, Vodka….
Yolanda Be Cool may “No Speak Americano” but these Aussie djs don’t care what language you speak if you are down to “Sweat Naked” to their newest album “Ladies and Mentalmen”. The dou boomed out of the gates with the release of their newest single off their first Dim Mak album, “Sweat Naked” last month. With their eyes on a second world domination the new album boasts fun summer bangers like “All That She Wants” and “Cool Like” that are perfect for the festival season.
These two have been in the game for over a decade but are still busy touring the world and making questionally seductive and definitely out of the box music videos. The videos play along with the unique combination of funky beats, rhythmically driven drops and underground roots that makes me personally want to rollerskate in a bikini all around Hollywood. The pair is pretty stoked about being apart of the “new sound” for Dim Mak. The Remix Package is out tomorrow with features from The Japanese Popstars, Harris Robotis, Oliver Twizt, Sub Antix and Etienne de Crecy. If you want to get down and dirty with Yolanda Be Cool live hurry up and buy your ticket for Burning Man, Electric Zoo and TomorrowWorld or pre-order the Remix Package on iTunes right now!

Nobody does up all night DIRTY like the Dim Mak boys at Beatpatrol Festival 2013. In fact, if we were to rate the content of this video according to tit size, we’d say it’s pretty much THE DOUBLE DEEZ. Witness Tai, Deorro, Datsik, Autoerotique, Angger Dimas, South Central, Dirtyphonics, Proxy, Haezer, and the boss man himself Steve Aoki, as they bring the party to Europe, Dim Mak style, in Part I of our Beatpatrol 2013 series. We’re talking vodka flowing like wine, bottles poppin’, hot girls, fire explosions, crowd-surfing, pulsing lights, heavy beats…in the words of Autoerotique, “EDM man, this is all EDM right here.” Erotic Drunken Mayhem? We’ll let you be the judge! Stay tuned for Beatpatrol Part II as the Dim Mak crew takes their 48-hour European all nighter to the next level!

If there’s one DJ that’s really making a mark on both EDM music and culture right now, it’s Carnage. With DJ support from Tiësto, Avicii, A-Trak, Porter Robinson, and Paul Oakenfold, to name a few, his own “Carnage Presents: INCREDIBLE” radio show on Sirius XM’s Electric Area, and his explosive performance at EDC 2013, Carnage has become an EDM icon – a trance god. In this fourteen minute documentary-style video, Carnage grants us an all-access, VIP backstage pass to his life as he parties on a first-name basis with heavy hitters like Tiesto and Morgan Page, takes his “trill as f*ck” grandma with him to EDC, lays down the beats in front of thousands of people, and describes the exhausting yet surreal journey he’s been on as he continues to, in his own words “do this for the people.” DISCLAIMER: only watch this video if you don’t mind hearing “twerk, turn up, and trill” used in the same sentence. But we know you love it.
With the recent release of His collab “Michael Jordan” with Tony Junior, which has received DJ support from tastemakers such as Martin Solveig who dropped it in his set at Tomorrowland over the weekend, Carnage’s star is rising to the top at an unprecedented speed.
CARNAGE TOUR DATES
Felix Cartal’s new video for “Young Love,” the first single off his upcoming Past Present Felix EP and starring vocals from Koko LaRoo, is basically about a bunch of babes in bikinis bouncing on bicycles and bashing balloons at boys. Hope you like the letter B.
Opening shot: four ripped bros strolling down a Vancouver sidewalk. “I just finished lunch with the guys,” the main muscly guy who forgot to button his shirt says on his phone [italics are mine]. “I’m just chilling at the pool with the girls,” purrs a buxom babe at the end of the line as she slowly spreads oil all over her assets [italics again mine]. This delineation between the sexes is extremely important because it sets up the rest of the storyline, which is a—spoiler alert—PRANK WAR: GIRLS VERSUS GUYS!!!
As soon as the bros arrive at the pool (so jelly of that gigantic floating pretzel btw), guns and carnage ensue. Is this a sly political commentary on gun control laws in America? Nah… let’s just stick with balloons and boobs.
NEW IVORY has premiered their official music video for “Youth And Old Age” from their new ‘Nothing’ EP. The video pays homage to classic teen movies with a warped and modern twist. NEW IVORY performs at a house party full of beautiful girls, rugged boys, booze, moshing, and crazy party antics. What’s better than that? Nothing. ‘Nothing’ EP, that is. NEW IVORY brings back your youth with four tracks of grinding, writhing indie rock that’s reminiscent of the early 90s, but with far more heart and better style. So go get ‘Nothing,’ out now on Dim Mak Records. Follow NEW IVORY as they continue to make music that will ensure their place on the throne of musical geniuses for years to come.
Do you like water balloons, bikes, babes and oversized pretzels? Then you’re in luck! Felix Cartal‘s new super summery music video for “Young Love feat. Koko LaRoo” comes out in just 2 more days! Check the video above for a quick snippet of what to look forward to.
You won’t want to miss this exclusive interview with rapidly evolving DJ god Autoerotique as he gives Aoki the 4-1-1 on his hot new single “Apshyxiation.” Not only has the track blown up the Beatport charts in recent days, but it’s also launched viral web buzz with the incredibly erotic (no pun intended) music video featuring a bunch of scantily clad sex vixens playing an intense game of dodgeball. In other news, Autoerotique dishes on the recent remix EP for his Beatport-charting collaboration single with Felix Cartal, “The Alarm.” Be sure to head over to Autoerotique’s artist profile on the Dim Mak website to check out all of his latest releases and follow him on Twitter (@autoerotique) as he keeps making moves.
Los Angeles-based producer/DJ CARNAGE is teaming up with Dutch producer TONY JUNIOR to release their next major single “Michael Jordan” on Dim Mak Records July 23. “Michael Jordan”—an homage to the iconic basketball player and his legendary jersey number #23—shows…
YOLANDA BE COOL, the revered Australian production/DJ duo, return with the release of the “Sweat Naked,” a bonus track exclusive to Dim Mak Records off their recently released full-length album Ladies and Mentalmen. The single release will be followed up by the release of the “Sweat Naked” Remix EP on August 13. The EP features remixes from the likes of Étienne de Crécy, The Japanese Popstars, Harris Robotis, Oliver Twizt, and Sub Antix.

Steve Aoki star students Botnek are back with a new video for “Through The Night,” their first single since last year’s spicily-titled Sriracha & Beer EP. Think of the two dudes, Erick Muise and Gordon Huntley, as Montreal’s version of Crookers (you know, while there were still two of them)—two party maestros who love emotional piano breakdowns, double fisting beers, and helping you have a TOTALLY EPIC time.
Fittingly, the video chronicles one long night out with the boys as they tumble from their studio to the center stage of a club filled with unicorn heads and hot chicks, before ending up at a groupie-packed after-party with even more hot chicks. Two themes persist throughout their perilous odyssey: getting wasted and awkward dancing. (via THUMP)
THIS JUST IN: Our boys Charly, Thomas, Pho, and Pitchin from the collective known as Dirtyphonics recently released the fifth video in a thirteen video series documenting their Irreverence US Tour. Without a doubt, everything about this video is filthy hot…
McCartney & Youth on MTV! The video, directed by Charlie Lightening (P!nk, Arcade Fire, Bjork) who also directed the video for “Church of Noise,” sees The Bloody Beetroots in his natural habitat, rocking out and orchestrating a haunting choir – with an appearance by the legendary Paul McCartney himself! The Bloody Beetroots will release the forthcoming album HIDE on September 17th (Ultra Music). PRESS HERE to purchase “Out of Sight” on iTunes.
Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, alias The Bloody Beetroots has always been an anomaly amidst the cocooned trends and coddled pedigrees of dance music. After fits and starts in Italian garage-punk bands, Rifo launched The Bloody Beetroots in 2007 and over the next few years, he would win the support of electro house heavyweights Etienne de Crecy and Alex Gopher in Europe and Dim Mak’s Steve Aoki stateside. On Rifo’s watch, anything’s not only possible – but from the sheer vastness of sounds and media that have materialized – probable as well. From the start Mr. Bloody Beetroot has been capable of seamlessly crossing genres, diving into everything from new wave to the primal screams of hardcore punk.
His most recent collaborations include studio sessions with Youth and remixing Killing Joke, an opportunity very few are entitled to. After working closely with Dennis Lyxen from The Refused on the single smash club record “Church of Noise,” Rifo developed an online community and cult following that embraces the freedom of art, speech and chaos – www.therealchurchofnoise.com. From one-man studio production to full live band shows with The Bloody Beetroots Live and DJ show touring as The Bloody Beetroots DJ set, Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo is a pioneer, reinventing the landscape of electronic music. Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo is currently touring as The Bloody Beetroots LIVE – See below for upcoming tour dates!

Dim Mak goes south to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in the next installment of the Up All Night video series. In this Spring Break special edition of Up All Night, we are joined by bass heads Datsik and Borgore as well as Congorock, Autoerotique, Jerome LOL, Anna Lunoe and more. In the video, Datsik downs the beer and margaritas, Borgore sings a capella, and Autoerotique and Jerome LOL slay the decks.

Yolanda Be Cool is about to blow your summer into smithereens with the release of “Ladies and Mentalmen”, a 19 track album that shows you what it’s like to really get down be mental with bonafide rhythmic genius.
Nobody likes a tease…unless it’s a teaser video giving hard hitting samples from a highly anticipated EP! To tide you over until tomorrow, Angger Dimas has released a teaser video to the sounds coming from this three-track EP “Don’t Look Back in Angger”. Watch as thousands of fans get wild, see Angger in all his glorious stage presence glory, and get uber hyped for an EP that releases three new sounds from one of the hottest producers around. Don’t forget to pre-order “Don’t Look Back in Angger” on iTunes and start counting down the hours until this banging release is yours to own and cherish forever.
Take a dash of funk, a spoonful of electro, two cups of dub, and pound of dance. Mix it all together. Chill it out. Sprinkle with Diplo. Serves a billion. Now, prepare yourself for the tasty and groundbreaking release of “P.O.V 2.0”, the follow up release of the original “P.O.V” by The Death Set. With “P.O.V 2.0”, a mastermind reworking has been produced by Diplo and The Partysquad, and it is just a whole new level of gritty/sexy/delicious fun. Described as “a punk, electro banger”, this track has something that will appeal to basically anyone who enjoys good music in all its various incarnations. Put together so flawlessly, “P.O.V. 2.0” is a work of art that will make you dust off your mirror and brush up on your twerkin’ skills, or (in my case) just dance like a total maniac because when music is this good, who cares about dance moves. Plug in, turn it up, and get down on this anthem of epic proportions.
Dim Mak allstar Clockwork has just provided us a stellar video to go along with his uplifting and hard-hitting anthem “Surge,” which features some sweet vocals from Wynter Gordon. This track was one of the huge anthems of 2013 and if you made it out to any major festivals over the last six months you probably heard it dropped and perhaps even did a little fist-pumping to one of the track’s bleepy drops. The video echoes the high-energy nature of the track and features everything from friends running through the forest to electrified zombies dancing on some sort of post-apocalyptic beach. Points for creativity on this one… (via THUMP)
In this final installment of our 3 part series, the Dim Mak crew takes a day off (from our oh so hard lives) to enjoy a second day on the yacht where we got a visit from Xtreme Fly Board. They were nice enough to let us steal one of their jet-skis as well as let us try to fly around the bay. After a nice day, we ended our long week at Ultra Music Festival. We followed Steve to UMF for his second weekend performance at the festival…
AutoErotique‘s breathtaking new single “Asphyxiation” undoubtedly lives up to it’s name. This pulsating electro track will have you gasping for air but wanting more as you fight back the urge to get up and dance.
No strangers to the production game, the widely inspired Toronto based duo have been behind the scenes producing various genres of music for years before officially joining the dance music community and singing to Dim Mak Records in early 2009. Every track AutoErotique puts out showcases the perfect blend of electro, techno, house, Dutch house, Dutch-colonial house, rave, rock, rave-rock, indie-rock, and even ska inspired elements.
Gladiator, AutoErotique’s first single released on Dim Mak Records in September 2009, received immediate attention from the likes of Steve Aoki, DJ AM, Klever, Larry Tee/Alexander Technique, The Faint, AC Slater, and Milano whom have all remixed the epic track, making AutoErotique a heavyweight name in the EDM scene. AutoErotique has since showed off their ambiguous musical talents with their own remixes for Benny Benassi, Felix Luker, Tiesto, Etienne de Crecy, Joachim Garraud, Sarah McLeod, Lykki Li, Shinichi Osawa, Chris Cornell & Timbaland, Diplo & Laidback Luke, Larry Tee, B. Rich, Disco Bisquits, Fischerspooner and Weezer. A recent collaboration with fellow Dim Mak artist Felix Cartal has given birth to the stellar summer single “The Alarm”, which is scheduled to be released June 6th on Dim Mak Records.
Being a native Texan, I’m stoked to present DIRTYPHONICS and their band of misfits as they take on three major Texas cities in the IRREVERENCE TOUR “Like Animals Episode 3” video. Making stops in Houston, Dallas, and Austin, the DIRTY boys wreck shop with loads of energy, confetti, stage dives, booby stamping, sensual shower scenes, stuffing people into lockers, and the sighting of a Texas staple…a “treadmill” (or as it is more formerly called, a windmill). Featuring tracks off the monumental “IRREVERENCE” album with footage that makes me green with envy for missing it, this episode is full of what makes Texas weird and makes the producers we love #DIRTY. Check out the previous two episodes from this epic nationwide tour and keep your eyes open for the next brilliant video from the DIRTYPHONICS “IRREVERENCE” tour.
When you produce super hot music under the moniker of AUTOEROTIQUE, you’re bound to get some heated attention; this much is proven by BEATPORT including the new, outrageously sexy music video for Autoerotique’s hit “Asphyxiation” in their TOP 10 EXTREMELY NSFW…
MIGHTYFOOLS may not be at the forefront of your playlists for summer adventures, but do trust me when I say that they absolutely should be. Releasing “Feel Good EP”, Mightyfools have embarked upon a journey to make music that does exactly that: make you feel good. Three high energy tracks from this young duo, “Feel Good EP” is sunshine in a speaker, and fans are already showering the release with high praise. “Feel Good EP” features three tracks that absolutely have their place on packed dance floors and festival grounds, guaranteed to cause a sea of music lovers to bounce with their hands held high. The high energy levels Mightyfools put into their music is infectious, and it really does feel so damn good.
Ever wanted to know what it’s like behind the scenes of a super sexy dodgeball match? I didn’t either, but then I did, you know? Take a look at what it takes to get the perfect dodgeball team of hotties assembled, find out what mascot pukes up cheerleading pompoms…
The party never stops when the Dim Mak crew is on scene. If you thought day 1 in Miami was wild then days 2 and 3 of WMC 2013 were nothing less than savage.
Things got wet and, well, weird as we hosted our highly anticipated Dim Mak Records Pool Party on Day 2. The Raleigh Hotel pool was full of babes in bikinis and dudes ready to dance their faces off. With rousing performances by Steve Aoki, Dzeko & Torres, Dirtyphonics, Laidback Luke, Keys N Krates, Yolanda Be Cool, Borgore & Carnage, Clockwork, and Benny Benassi, just to name a few, the day turned into night and back to day before anyone even realized it happened.
The insanity continued on day 3 as we made our way to the OWSLA Party at Red Bull House where we undoubtedly had our share of fun.
Make sure you stay tuned for “Dim Mak Invades Miami – Part 3″ to catch us at Ultra Music Festival.
Dim Mak head honcho Steve Aoki has done it again with a brilliant collaboration featuring Southern Cali’s Dan Sena and vocal vixen Miss Palmer. The smashing single “Omega” is embellished with a punchy bassline, captivating vocals, and what about that drop!?
Composer and sound artist Diego Stocco released a clip featuring his experiments with a new turntable and a few freshly gathered leaves. More specifically all bass, kick and snare sounds heard in the video were made by alternating the leaf type, angle, pressure as it was applied against the turntable. Amazing isn’t it? (via #vinyloftheday)
Recently I bought a turntable to use it for an experiment, but that didn’t turn out as I was expecting.
Then, I noticed the equally spaced ridges on the plate and got an idea for something else.
For about an hour I recorded short musical phrases by rubbing leaves against the turntable (the type of leaf, angle, pressure and fold determined the sound), then I combined the different takes together. Every element comes from those recordings, including the bass, kick and snare sounds (shaped with EQ, compression and resonators).
If you’d like to see more of my musical projects based on trees and other natural ingredients here’s “Music from a Tree” bit.ly/9hRhB2 and “Music from Nature” bit.ly/ID6Vow Enjoy!

Wake up because AutoErotique and Felix Cartal have officially rung the alarm! “The Alarm” is the hot new collaboration that has everyone wanting to make their own rendition with remixes by Charlie Darker, Erick Rincon, and Keys N Krates. “The Alarm” is scheduled to be released on June 6 on Dim Mak Records. You can pre order “The Alarm” here and have the track on your playlist just in time for summer festival season!
Groovy basslines, feel-good rhythms, and dark yet hooky vocals, three signature elements you can certainly count on house music masters Azari & III to integrate into every one of their hypnotic tracks. The Toronto based quartet takes us on a ride back in time and drops us off during the classic Chicago house era where chill synth textures and syncopated overtones ruled the scene. Azari & III fuse classic house revivalism with modern interpretation. Their featured track, “Hungry for the Power (Jamie Jones Ridge Remix)” released on Dim Mak Records, highlights their back to the future type sound.
Azari & III have the power to captivate you with their upbeat dance moves and expressive stage presence. The music video for “Hungry for the Power” is a compilation of live performance footage from the Sonar North American tour and the 2013 Dim Mak Records showcase in Austin, Texas. The soulful house collective command the stage as Dinamo Azari and Alixander III handle the live electronics while Starving Yet Full and Fritz Helder take charge of the vocals.
In October of 2012, the Canadian house music group released their self titled album Azari & III on Dim Mak Records, which features “Hungry for the Power”. Dim Mak founder, Steve Aoki boasts “[Azari & III] bring up sounds from the past, but it’s what I think the future sounds like. And Azari & III are beyond any trends, which makes this one of the best albums of our generation. They also recently released an EP with their latest single “Lost in Time”, also released on Dim Mak Records in April 2013.” Both are available for purchase on iTunes.
Azari & III will be touring the states in late May/early June with shows in Hollywood, San Francisco, New York, and Philadelphia.
Evolve. Transcend. Prepare. The future is near, and from the looks of it in Steve Aoki and Angger Dimas’ video for “Singularity” ft My Name is Kay, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. In this voyeuristic video, Steve is at the merciless hands of mad scientist My Name is Kay and her henchman as they turn Steve into a lab rat cyborg with major rager issues, all while the brilliant Ray Kurzweil narrates what the future of mankind will look like. Part science fiction, part futurist theory, the video for the chilling track “Singularity” begs one question: are you prepared for the Neon Future?
