The party never stops when the Dim Mak crew is on scene. If you thought day 1 in Miami was wild then days 2 and 3 of WMC 2013 were nothing less than savage.
Things got wet and, well, weird as we hosted our highly anticipated Dim Mak Records Pool Party on Day 2. The Raleigh Hotel pool was full of babes in bikinis and dudes ready to dance their faces off. With rousing performances by Steve Aoki, Dzeko & Torres, Dirtyphonics, Laidback Luke, Keys N Krates, Yolanda Be Cool, Borgore & Carnage, Clockwork, and Benny Benassi, just to name a few, the day turned into night and back to day before anyone even realized it happened.
The insanity continued on day 3 as we made our way to the OWSLA Party at Red Bull House where we undoubtedly had our share of fun.
Make sure you stay tuned for “Dim Mak Invades Miami – Part 3” to catch us at Ultra Music Festival.
Dim Mak head honcho Steve Aoki has done it again with a brilliant collaboration featuring Southern Cali’s Dan Sena and vocal vixen Miss Palmer. The smashing single “Omega” is embellished with a punchy bassline, captivating vocals, and what about that drop!? This masterpiece of a track brings you all the hypnotizing musical elements that force you off your feet and gravitate you towards the dance floor.
Composer and sound artist Diego Stocco released a clip featuring his experiments with a new turntable and a few freshly gathered leaves. More specifically all bass, kick and snare sounds heard in the video were made by alternating the leaf type, angle, pressure as it was applied against the turntable. Amazing isn’t it? (via #vinyloftheday)
Recently I bought a turntable to use it for an experiment, but that didn’t turn out as I was expecting.
Then, I noticed the equally spaced ridges on the plate and got an idea for something else.
For about an hour I recorded short musical phrases by rubbing leaves against the turntable (the type of leaf, angle, pressure and fold determined the sound), then I combined the different takes together. Every element comes from those recordings, including the bass, kick and snare sounds (shaped with EQ, compression and resonators).

Wake up because AutoErotique and Felix Cartal have officially rung the alarm! “The Alarm” is the hot new collaboration that has everyone wanting to make their own rendition with remixes by Charlie Darker, Erick Rincon, and Keys N Krates. “The Alarm” is scheduled to be released on June 6 on Dim Mak Records. You can pre order “The Alarm” here and have the track on your playlist just in time for summer festival season!
Groovy basslines, feel-good rhythms, and dark yet hooky vocals, three signature elements you can certainly count on house music masters Azari & III to integrate into every one of their hypnotic tracks. The Toronto based quartet takes us on a ride back in time and drops us off during the classic Chicago house era where chill synth textures and syncopated overtones ruled the scene. Azari & III fuse classic house revivalism with modern interpretation. Their featured track, “Hungry for the Power (Jamie Jones Ridge Remix)” released on Dim Mak Records, highlights their back to the future type sound.
Azari & III have the power to captivate you with their upbeat dance moves and expressive stage presence. The music video for “Hungry for the Power” is a compilation of live performance footage from the Sonar North American tour and the 2013 Dim Mak Records showcase in Austin, Texas. The soulful house collective command the stage as Dinamo Azari and Alixander III handle the live electronics while Starving Yet Full and Fritz Helder take charge of the vocals.
In October of 2012, the Canadian house music group released their self titled album Azari & III on Dim Mak Records, which features “Hungry for the Power”. Dim Mak founder, Steve Aoki boasts “[Azari & III] bring up sounds from the past, but it’s what I think the future sounds like. And Azari & III are beyond any trends, which makes this one of the best albums of our generation. They also recently released an EP with their latest single “Lost in Time”, also released on Dim Mak Records in April 2013.” Both are available for purchase on iTunes.
Azari & III will be touring the states in late May/early June with shows in Hollywood, San Francisco, New York, and Philadelphia.
Evolve. Transcend. Prepare. The future is near, and from the looks of it in Steve Aoki and Angger Dimas’ video for “Singularity” ft My Name is Kay, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. In this voyeuristic video, Steve is at the merciless hands of mad scientist My Name is Kay and her henchman as they turn Steve into a lab rat cyborg with major rager issues, all while the brilliant Ray Kurzweil narrates what the future of mankind will look like. Part science fiction, part futurist theory, the video for the chilling track “Singularity” begs one question: are you prepared for the Neon Future?
AutoErotique doesn’t seem to have any problem living up to the definition of his name, and the proof is in the super sexy teaser for his latest video, “Asphyxiation”. With a nice bare lady ass and a sampling of the track itself, this little glimpse of some sort of heaven is just enough to make me stoked on the release of the full video on May 28th.

This year we started off the 2013 festival season in Austin, Texas during the SXSW festivities for the Dim Mak x Buygore showcase. A few members from our team headed out from LA to the lone star state to help including #Jenks, Bryan (B!) Linares, Alexvnder, and others. Even our good friend NeilFavila.com made it!
The AOKI FILES: MIAMI EDITION episodes are still rolling in, and this latest installment features the genre-hopping Belgium based producers SOUND OF STEREO. Steve goes poolside with the guys to talk about their mystical EP “UNICORN”. You know that a release is going to be damn good when the producers say that this is the product of a sound they’ve wanted to make for a long time, and that is the case with UNICORN. From melodic chillness to clubby bangers, UNICORN is a truly magical collection of songs. Hot on the heels of UNICORN is the very recent release of “ORIGIN”, a two-track EP with heavy heavy drops and intense festival vibes. These guys are totally on fire, and we here at Dim Mak are stoked to let you feel the heat!
Treat Me Right: an epic trip through space, time, and romance novels. The new video from Keys N Krates’ interprets its own ambiguous request by borrowing from the beautifully rendered (yet often ridiculous) world of vintage romance novel cover art. Spanning everything from Highlander love to superspy ass-kickery, only an origin from deep space can explain Treat Me Right’s evolutionary mysteries.
We all know at least one chick who is like, a total tease right? Usually, this broad is well known for breaking hearts and painting the town red, all while looking innocent and cherry the whole time. Such a dangerous babe as this is found in the 50s themed video for Sato Goldschlag‘s “Mr. Mister” feat. Hannah Sidibe. Filmed in terrifying slow motion with a costume department that would make vintage junkies weep, this soothing and undeniably catchy song plays us through the worst night of two unsuspecting dudes lives. Get your seductive groove on and watch out for “Mr. Mister” on Dim Mak’s New Noise 4-out now on iTunes and Beatport!
