Whitey

WHITEY is a sort-of solo project by N.J. Whitey. He is a misanthrope who spends most of his time skulking in dark corners. When he plays live, he is accompanied by the followin friends and associates - Wildcat (drums/sequencers), Scott X. Fairbrother (guitar/bass) and Shah (guitar/keys).

Over the past two years Whitey and his live sidekicks have played over 200 shows alongside (amongst others) Undertones, Buzzcocks, LCD Soundsystem, New Order and Iggy Pop. There have been sessions for XFM and BBC Radio 1. Previously released in the UK via 1234 Recordings, Whitey's debut album, The Light At The End Of The Tunnel Is a Train has already made waves in Europe and is now set to turn more ears on in the states.

With no two songs sounding the same and incorporating the best of rock, electro and folk sounds Whitey plans on re-introducing America to good dance and chill shounds again. I'll leave it to legendary UK music magazine Q to have the last word on Whitey, "A superb debut, insidious buzzing grooves and fragile deamy tunes"

The Light At The End of Tunnel Is a Train is set to release October 10, 2006, on Dim Mak Records.

"Falling somewhere between Tom Vek and LCD Soundsystem, Whitey seems to have the potential to break out of the hipster set and encroach upon a more main stream audience. Catchy and melodic, songs like "Intro/In The Limelight," "Y.U.H.2.B.M.2" and "Non Stop" are "cool" enough to maintain a semblance of street cred, yet sound enough like Beck to have the masses shaking their collective ass.."
